Sunan al-Darimi 31

Narrated by Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father), the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to deliver the sermon while leaning on the trunk of a tree. Then, when the pulpit was built (and he ascended it, as in the narration of Al-Bukhari), the trunk began to cry so intensely that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went to it and placed his hand on it.

سیدنا عبداللہ بن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے رسول اللہ ﷺ ایک درخت کے تنے کا سہارا لے کر خطبہ دیا کرتے تھے، پھر جب منبر بن گیا (اور آپ اس پر تشریف لے گئے «كما فى رواية البخاري») تو وہ تنا رونے لگا حتی کہ آپ ﷺ اس کے پاس تشریف لے گئے اور اپنا ہاتھ اس پر پھیرا۔

Sayyidina Abdullah bin Umar ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se riwayat hai Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ek darakht ke tane ka sahara lekar khutba diya karte the, phir jab mimbar ban gaya (aur aap is par tashreef le gaye «kama fi riwayat al-Bukhari») to woh tana rone laga hatta ke aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) is ke pass tashreef le gaye aur apna hath is par pheira.

أَخْبَرَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ "يَخْطُبُ إِلَى جِذْعٍ، فَلَمَّا اتَّخَذَ الْمِنْبَرَ حَنَّ الْجِذْعُ حَتَّى أَتَاهُ، فَمَسَحَهُ".

Sunan al-Darimi 32

Abdullah bin Buraidah narrated from his father: When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to deliver the sermon, he would stand up and stand for a long time, and this would become difficult for him. So, a date palm trunk was brought, a hole was dug, and it was set up next to him. When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would deliver the sermon, he would lean on it and stand for a long time. A man who had come to Medina, when he saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) standing by the trunk, said to the person sitting next to him, "If I knew that Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) would praise me for something that would give him comfort, I would make him a seat upon which he could stand, and upon which he could sit as much as he wished and stand as much as he wished." When this was reported to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), he said, "Bring him to me." So, he was brought before him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) commanded him to make a pulpit of three or four steps, which is what exists in Medina today. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) found comfort in it. When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) moved away from the trunk and approached the thing (the pulpit) that was built for him, the trunk began to cry like a she-camel, with a thin voice, out of sadness. Abdullah bin Buraidah narrated from his father that when the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) heard the sound of the trunk crying, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) went back to it and placed his blessed hand on it and said, "If you wish, I will leave you planted in the place where you are, and you will remain as you are. And if you wish, I will plant you in Paradise, where you will be watered by the rivers and springs of Paradise, and your growth will be good, and you will bear fruit, and the friends of Allah will eat your fruit." The narrator thinks that he heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say twice, " نعم قد فعلت (Yes, I will do that)." The narrator asked, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "It has chosen that I should plant it in Paradise."

عبداللہ بن بریدہ نے اپنے باپ سے روایت کیا: نبی ﷺ جب خطبہ دیتے تو کھڑے ہو جاتے اور دیر تک کھڑے رہتے اور یہ آپ پر شاق گزرنے لگا تھا، چنانچہ ایک کھجور کا تنا لایا گیا اور گڑھا کھود کر اسے آپ کے پہلو میں کھڑا کر دیا گیا، اور جب رسول اللہ ﷺ خطبہ دیتے تو دیر تک اس سے ٹیک لگائے کھڑے رہتے، ایک آدمی جو مدینہ آئے ہوئے تھے جب انہوں نے آپ ﷺ کو اس تنے کے پاس کھڑے دیکھا تو اپنے پاس بیٹھے شخص سے کہا کہ اگر مجھے معلوم ہو جاتا کہ محمد ﷺ کسی ایسی چیز پر میری تعریف کریں گے جو انہیں آرام دے تو ان کے لئے ایسی نشست گاہ بنا دیتا جس پر آپ کھڑے ہو سکتے اور اس پر چاہے جتنا بیٹھتے اور جتنا چاہتے کھڑے رہتے، جب نبی ﷺ کو اس بات کی اطلاع پہنچی تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”انہیں میرے پاس لے کر آو“، چنانچہ انہیں آپ کے رو برو لایا گیا تو آپ ﷺ نے انہیں حکم دیا کہ تین یا چار سیڑھی کا منبر بنائیں جو آج مدینہ میں موجود ہے، اور رسول اللہ ﷺ نے اس میں راحت محسوس کی، اور جب نبی کریم ﷺ اس تنے سے دور ہوئے اور جو چیز (منبر) آپ کے لئے بنائی گئی اس کے قریب جانے لگے تو وہ تنا اداس ہو کر اونٹنی کی طرح باریک آواز سے رونے لگا۔ عبداللہ بن بریدہ نے اپنے والد سے روایت کیا کہ جب نبی کریم ﷺ نے اس تنے کے رونے کی آواز سنی تو آپ ﷺ اس کی طرف واپس لوٹے اور دست مبارک اس پر رکھا اور فرمایا: ”اگر تم چاہو تو جس جگہ لگے ہو اسی میں گڑا رہنے دوں اور تم جس حال میں ہو برقرار رہو، اور اگر تم چاہو تو جنت میں لگا دوں اور جنت کی نہروں اور چشموں سے سیراب ہو اور تیری روئیدگی اچھی ہو اور تو پھل دے اور اللہ کے ولی تیرے پھل کھائیں“، راوی کا خیال ہے کہ میں نے نبی ﷺ سے سنا آپ ﷺ نے دو بار فرمایا ” «نعم قد فعلت» ٹھیک ہے میں یہی کروں گا۔“ راوی نے استفسار کیا تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”اس نے یہ اختیار کیا کہ میں اسے جنت میں لگا دوں۔“

Abdullah bin Buraidah ne apne baap se riwayat kiya: Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) jab khutba dete to khade ho jate aur dair tak khade rehte aur yeh aap par shaq guzarne laga tha, chunancha ek khajoor ka tana laya gaya aur garha khod kar use aap ke pahlu mein khara kar diya gaya, aur jab Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) khutba dete to dair tak us se tek lagaye khade rehte, ek aadmi jo Madinah aaye huye the jab unhon ne aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko us tane ke pass khade dekha to apne pass baithe shakhs se kaha ki agar mujhe maloom ho jata ki Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) kisi aisi cheez par meri tareef karenge jo unhen aaram de to un ke liye aisi nishast gah bana deta jis par aap khade ho sakte aur us par chahe jitna baithte aur jitna chahte khade rehte, jab Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ko is baat ki ittilaa pahunchi to aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Unhen mere pass le kar aao“, chunancha unhen aap ke rubaru laya gaya to aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne unhen hukum diya ki teen ya chaar sidhi ka mimbar banayen jo aaj Madinah mein mojood hai, aur Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne us mein rahat mehsoos ki, aur jab Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) us tane se door huye aur jo cheez (mimbar) aap ke liye banayi gayi us ke qareeb jane lage to woh tana udas ho kar oontni ki tarah baarik aawaz se rone laga. Abdullah bin Buraidah ne apne walid se riwayat kiya ki jab Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne us tane ke rone ki aawaz suni to aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) us ki taraf wapas laute aur dast mubarak us par rakha aur farmaya: ”Agar tum chaho to jis jagah lage huye usi mein garha rehne doon aur tum jis haal mein ho barqarar raho, aur agar tum chaho to Jannat mein laga doon aur Jannat ki nahron aur chashmon se sirab ho aur teri rawaidagi achchhi ho aur tu phal de aur Allah ke wali tere phal khayen“, raavi ka khayaal hai ki main ne Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) se suna aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne do baar farmaya ” «Na'am qad fa'alta» theek hai main yahi karoonga.“ raavi ne istifsar kiya to aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Is ne yeh ikhtiyaar kiya ki main use Jannat mein laga doon“.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا تَمِيمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُؤْمِنِ، حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا خَطَبَ قَامَ فَأَطَالَ الْقِيامَ، فَكَانَ يَشُقُّ عَلَيْهِ قِيَامُهُ، فَأُتِيَ بِجِذْعِ نَخْلَةٍ فَحُفِرَ لَهُ وَأُقِيمَ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ قَائِمًا لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا خَطَبَ فَطَالَ الْقِيَامُ عَلَيْهِ، اسْتَنَدَ إِلَيْهِ فَاتَّكَأَ عَلَيْهِ فَبَصُرَ بِهِ رَجُلٌ كَانَ وَرَدَ الْمَدِينَةَ، فَرَآهُ قَائِمًا إِلَى جَنْبِ ذَلِكَ الْجِذْعِ، فَقَالَ: لِمَنْ يَلِيهِ مِنْ النَّاسِ: لَوْ أَعْلَمُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا يَحْمَدُنِي فِي شَيْءٍ يَرْفُقُ بِهِ، لَصَنَعْتُ لَهُ مَجْلِسًا يَقُومُ عَلَيْهِ، فَإِنْ شَاءَ، جَلَسَ مَا شَاءَ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ، قَامَ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: "ائْتُونِي بِهِ"، فَأَتَوْهُ بِهِ، فَأُمِرَهُ أَنْ يَصْنَعَ لَهُ هَذِهِ الْمَرَاقِيَ الثَّلَاثَ، أَوْ الْأَرْبَعَ هِيَ الْآنَ فِي مِنْبَرِ الْمَدِينَةِ، فَوَجَدَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي ذَلِكَ رَاحَةً، فَلَمَّا فَارَقَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْجِذْعَ وَعَمَدَ إِلَى هَذِهِ الَّتِي صُنِعَتْ لَهُ، جَزِعَ الْجِذْعُ فَحَنَّ كَمَا تَحِنُّ النَّاقَةُ حِينَ فَارَقَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَزَعَمَ ابْنُ بُرَيْدَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ سَمِعَ حَنِينَ الْجِذْعِ، رَجَعَ إِلَيْهِ فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَيْهِ وَقَالَ:"اخْتَرْ أَنْ أَغْرِسَكَ فِي الْمَكَانِ الَّذِي كُنْتَ فِيهِ، فَتَكُونَ كَمَا كُنْتَ، وَإِنْ شِئْتَ أَنْ أَغْرِسَكَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ فَتَشْرَبَ مِنْ أَنْهَارِهَا وَعُيُونِهَا فَيَحْسُنُ نَبْتُكَ، وَتُثْمِرُ فَيَأْكُلَ أَوْلِيَاءُ اللَّهِ مِنْ ثَمَرَتِكَ وَنَخْلِكَ فَعَلْتُ"فَزَعَمَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مِنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ لَهُ:"نَعَمْ قَدْ فَعَلْتُ مَرَّتَيْنِ"، فَسُأَلَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ:"اخْتَارَ أَنْ أَغْرِسَهُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ".

Sunan al-Darimi 33

It is narrated by Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that before the pulpit was made, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to stand leaning against a trunk of a date palm tree. When the pulpit was made, the trunk began to cry so loudly that we could hear it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) then placed his blessed hand on it, and it became quiet.

روایت ہے سیدنا جابر بن عبدالله رضی اللہ عنہما سے کہ منبر بنائے جانے سے پہلے رسول اللہ ﷺ تنے کا سہارا لے کر کھڑے ہوتے تھے، جب منبر بنا لیا گیا تو وہ تنا رونے لگا یہاں تک کہ ہم نے اس کے رونے کی آواز سنی، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے اپنا دست مبارک اس پر رکھا تو وہ خاموش ہو گیا۔

Riwayat hai Sayidna Jabir bin Abdullah ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se ke mimbar banaye jane se pehle Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) tane ka sahara lekar kharay hotay thay, jab mimbar bana liya gaya to woh tana roney laga yahan tak ke hum ne us ke rone ki aawaz suni, Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne apna dast mubarak uss par rakha to woh khamosh ho gaya.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "يَقُومُ إِلَى جِذْعٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُجْعَلَ الْمِنْبَرُ، فَلَمَّا جُعِلَ الْمِنْبَرُ حَنَّ ذَلِكَ الْجِذْعُ حَتَّى سَمِعْنَا حَنِينَهُ، فَوَضَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ عَلَيْهِ فَسَكَنَ".

Sunan al-Darimi 34

Narrated by Sayyidina Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to deliver the sermon while leaning on a piece of wood. When the pulpit was made and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) ascended it, the wood began to cry like a camel. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) placed his blessed hand on it and it became quiet.

سیدنا جابر بن عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ ایک لکڑی کا سہارا لے کر خطبہ دیا کرتے تھے، پس جب منبر بنا لیا گیا اور رسول اللہ ﷺ اس پر تشریف فرما ہوئے تو وہ لکڑی اونٹنی کی طرح رونے لگی، چنانچہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے اپنا دست مبارک اس پر رکھا تو وہ چپ ہو گئی۔

Sayyidina Jabir bin Abdullah (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ek lakdi ka sahaara lekar khutba diya karte the, pas jab mimbar bana liya gaya aur Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) is par tashreef farma hue to wo lakdi untni ki tarah ronay lagi, chunancha Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne apna dast mubarak is par rakha to wo chup ho gayi.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: "كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ إِلَى خَشَبَةٍ، فَلَمَّا صُنِعَ الْمِنْبَرُ فَجَلَسَ عَلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، حَنَّتْ حَنِينَ الْعِشَارِ حَتَّى وَضَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَدَهُ عَلَيْهَا فَسَكَنَتْ".

Sunan al-Darimi 35

It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that it (the wood) cried like a she-camel cries when her young one has been taken away from her.


Grade: Sahih

سیدنا جابر رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ وہ لکڑی اس طرح روئی جیسے وہ اونٹنی روتی ہے جس کا بچہ چھین لیا گیا ہو۔

Sayyidna Jabir (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se marvi hai ki woh lakdi is tarah roti jaise woh untni roti hai jis ka bachcha chhen liya gaya ho.

أَخْبَرَنَا فَرْوَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي كَرِيبٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: "حَنَّتْ الْخَشَبَةُ حَنِينَ النَّاقَةِ الْخَلُوجِ".

Sunan al-Darimi 36

Tufail narrated from his father, Sayyidina Ubayy ibn Ka'b, may Allah be pleased with him, that when the roof of the mosque (in Medina) was made of palm leaves, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, would pray near a palm trunk and deliver sermons while leaning on it. One of his companions said, "Let us make a place for you to sit where you can stand and the people can see you and hear the sermon." He, peace and blessings be upon him, gave permission. So a pulpit of three steps was built and placed where he had indicated. When the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, arrived and went towards the pulpit and passed by that trunk, it cried out like a bellowing bull. He, peace and blessings be upon him, wiped his hand over it and it became silent. He ascended the pulpit. He used to pray near that trunk and when the mosque in Medina was renovated, Sayyidina Ubayy ibn Ka'b, may Allah be pleased with him, took that trunk and it remained with him until it decayed and termites ate it and it crumbled away.

طفیل نے روایت کیا اپنے والد سیدنا ابی بن کعب رضی اللہ عنہ سے کہ جب مسجد (نبوی) کی چھت تنوں پر تھی رسول اللہ ﷺ کھجور کے تنے کے پاس نماز پڑھتے اور اس کا سہارا لے کر خطبہ دیتے تھے، آپ کے اصحاب میں سے ایک شخص نے کہا ہم آپ کے لئے بیٹھنے کی جگہ بنا دیتے ہیں جس پر آپ کھڑے ہوں اور لوگ آپ کو دیکھ سکیں اور خطبہ بھی سن سکیں، آپ ﷺ نے اجازت دے دی چنانچہ تین سیڑھی کا منبر بنایا گیا، اور جہاں آپ نے حکم دیا وہ منبر رکھ دیا گیا، اور جب رسول اللہ ن ﷺ تشریف لائے اور اس منبر کی طرف جانے لگے اور اس تنے کے پاس سے گزرے تو وہ بھینسے کی طرح پھوٹ پھوٹ کر رونے لگا، آپ ﷺ نے اس پر ہاتھ پھیرا تو وہ خاموش ہو گیا، آپ منبر کی طرف تشریف لے گئے، آپ نماز اسی تنے کے پاس پڑھتے تھے اور جب مسجد نبوی کی ترمیم ہوئی تو سیدنا ابی بن کعب رضی اللہ عنہ اس تنے کو لے گئے اور وہ انہیں کے پاس رہا یہاں تک کہ بوسیدہ ہو گیا اور اسے دیمک نے کھا لیا اور وہ ریزہ ریزہ ہو گیا۔

Tufail ne riwayat kiya apne walid Sayyidna Ubayy bin Ka'b (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se ke jab Masjid (Nabvi) ki chhat tanon par thi, Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) khajoor ke tane ke pass namaz parhte aur iska sahara lekar khutba dete the, Aap ke ashaab mein se ek shakhs ne kaha hum Aap ke liye baithne ki jagah bana dete hain jis par Aap kharay hon aur log Aap ko dekh saken aur khutba bhi sun saken, Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne ijazat de di chunanche teen seedhi ka mimbar banaya gaya, aur jahan Aap ne hukm diya woh mimbar rakh diya gaya, aur jab Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) tashrif laaye aur is mimbar ki taraf jaane lage aur is tane ke pass se guzre to woh bhainse ki tarah phut phut kar rone laga, Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne is par hath phera to woh khamosh ho gaya, Aap mimbar ki taraf tashrif le gaye, Aap namaz isi tane ke pass parhte the aur jab Masjid Nabvi ki tarmeem hui to Sayyidna Ubayy bin Ka'b (رضي الله تعالى عنه) is tane ko le gaye aur woh unhin ke pass raha yahan tak ke boseeda ho gaya aur use deemak ne kha liya aur woh reza reza ho gaya.

أَخْبَرَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَقِيلٍ، عَنْ الطُّفَيْلِ بْنِ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: يُصَلِّي إِلَى جِذْعٍ وَيَخْطُبُ إِلَيْهِ إِذْ كَانَ الْمَسْجِدُ عَرِيشًا، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ: أَلَا نَجْعَلُ لَكَ عَرِيشًا تَقُومُ عَلَيْهِ يَرَاكَ النَّاسُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، وَتُسْمِعُ مِنْ خُطْبَتِكَ؟، قَالَ: "نَعَمْ"، فَصُنِعَ لَهُ الثَّلَاثَ دَرَجَاتٍ، هُنَّ اللَّوَاتِي عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ، فَلَمَّا صُنِعَ الْمِنْبَرُ وَوُضِعَ فِي مَوْضِعِهِ الَّذِي وَضَعَهُ فِيهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: فَلَمَّا جَاءَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُرِيدُ الْمِنْبَرَ مَرَّ عَلَيْهِ، فَلَمَّا جَاوَزَهُ، خَارَ الْجِذْعُ حَتَّى تَصَدَّعَ وَانْشَقَّ، فَرَجَعَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَمَسَحَهُ بِيَدِهِ حَتَّى سَكَنَ، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَى الْمِنْبَرِ، قَالَ: فَكَانَ إِذَا صَلَّى، صَلَّى إِلَيْهِ فَلَمَّا هُدِمَ الْمَسْجِدُ أَخَذَ ذَلِكَ الْجِذْعَ أُبَيُّ بْنُ كَعْبٍ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ عِنْدَهُ حَتَّى بَلِيَ فَأَكَلَتْهُ الْأَرَضَةُ وَعَادَ رُفَاتًا.

Sunan al-Darimi 37

It is narrated on the authority of Sayyiduna Abu Sa'eed Radi Allahu Anhu that the Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, was delivering a sermon while leaning against a trunk when a Roman man came to him and submitted that he should make a pulpit for him to stand on and deliver the sermon. So he made the pulpit for you, which you see today. The narrator said that when the Holy Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam stood on this pulpit to deliver the sermon, the trunk began to cry like a baby camel cries in a thin voice. The Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, came down and went near the trunk, clung to it, and it became silent. You ordered that a pit be dug and it be buried.

سیدنا ابوسعید رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ ایک تنے سے لگ کر خطبہ دے رہے تھے کہ ایک رومی آدمی آپ کے پاس آیا اور عرض کیا کہ میں آپ کے لئے منبر بنائے دیتا ہوں جس پر کھڑے ہو کر آپ خطبہ دیا کریں، چنانچہ آپ کے لئے وہ منبر بنا دیا گیا جو آج تم دیکھتے ہو۔ راوی نے کہا جب نبی کریم ﷺ اس منبر پر خطبہ دینے کے لئے کھڑے ہوئے تو وہ تنا اس طرح رونے لگا جیسے اونٹنی کا بچہ باریک آواز سے روتا ہے، رسول اللہ ﷺ اترے اور اس تنے کے پاس تشریف لے گئے، اسے چمٹا لیا تو وہ چپ ہو گیا، آپ نے حکم دیا کہ گڑھا کھود کر اسے دفن کر دیا جائے۔

Sayyiduna Abusa'id (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ek tane se lag kar khutba de rahe the ki ek romi aadmi aap ke pas aaya aur arz kiya ki main aap ke liye mimbar bana deta hun jis par kharde ho kar aap khutba diya karein, chunancha aap ke liye wo mimbar bana diya gaya jo aaj tum dekhte ho. Rawi ne kaha jab Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) is mimbar par khutba dene ke liye kharde huye to wo tana is tarah rone laga jaise untni ka bachcha bareek aawaz se rota hai, Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) utre aur is tane ke pas tashreef le gaye, use chimata liya to wo chup ho gaya, aap ne hukm diya ki garha khod kar use dafan kar diya jaye.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الْوَدَّاكِ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "يَخْطُبُ إِلَى لِزْقِ جِذْعٍ فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ رُومِيٌّ، فَقَالَ: أَصْنَعُ لَكَ مِنْبَرًا تَخْطُبُ عَلَيْهِ، فَصَنَعَ لَهُ مِنْبَرًا هَذَا الَّذِي تَرَوْنَ، قَالَ: فَلَمَّا قَامَ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ، حَنَّ الْجِذْعُ حَنِينَ النَّاقَةِ إِلَى وَلَدِهَا، فَنَزَلَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَضَمَّهُ إِلَيْهِ فَسَكَنَ، فَأَمَرَ بِهِ أَنْ يُحْفَرَ لَهُ وَيُدْفَنَ".

Sunan al-Darimi 38

Sa'iq reported that I heard Hasan Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) say: When the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) came to Medina, he used to deliver sermons while leaning on a piece of wood. When the number of people increased, he thought that everyone should hear his voice, so he ordered, "Make something for me to stand on." It was asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what should we make?" He said, "Make a pulpit like that of Moses." Hasan said, "By Allah, when the pulpit was made, the piece of wood wept." Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) also said, "Glory be to Allah! The hearts of such a nation could be moved by what they heard," meaning by hearing his voice, as Abu Muhammad Imam Darimi said.

صَعِقْ نے بیان کیا کہ میں نے حسن بصری رحمہ اللہ کو کہتے سنا کہ جب نبی کریم ﷺ مدینہ تشریف لائے تو اپنی پشت (مبارک) لکڑی سے لگا کر خطبہ دیا کرتے تھے، جب لوگوں کی کثرت ہوئی تو آپ نے سوچا کہ سب آپ کی آواز سنیں، چنانچہ آپ نے حکم دیا کہ ”کوئی ایسی چیز بناؤ جس کے اوپر میں کھڑا ہو جاؤں“، عرض کیا اے اللہ کے نبی! کیسی چیز بنائیں؟ فرمایا: ”موسی علیہ السلام کا سا چھپر بناؤ“، جب وہ عریش بن گیا تو حسن کا کہنا ہے اللہ کی قسم وہ لکڑی رو پڑی۔ حسن رحمہ اللہ نے یہ بھی کہا: سبحان الله ایسی قوم کے دلوں کو پایا جا سکتا ہے جنہوں نے اسے سنا۔ ابومحمد امام دارمی نے کہا یعنی اس آواز کو سنا۔

Saeq ne bayan kiya keh maine Hasan Basri Rehmatullah Alaih ko kehte suna keh jab Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) Madina tashreef laaye to apni pusht (mubarak) lakdi se laga kar khutba diya karte the, jab logon ki kasrat hui to aap ne socha keh sab aap ki aawaz sunain, chunancha aap ne hukm diya keh "koi aisi cheez banao jis ke upar main khara ho jaun", arz kiya aye Allah ke Nabi! kaisi cheez banaen? Farmaya: "Musa Alaihissalam ka sa chhappar banao", jab wo arsh ban gaya to Hasan ka kehna hai Allah ki qasam wo lakdi ro padi. Hasan Rehmatullah Alaih ne ye bhi kaha: Subhan Allah aisi qaum ke dilon ko paya ja sakta hai jinhon ne use suna. Abu Muhammad Imam Darmi ne kaha yani is aawaz ko suna.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا الصَّعْقُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ، يَقُولُ: لَمَّا أَنْ قَدِمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَدِينَةَ جَعَلَ "يُسْنِدُ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى خَشَبَةٍ وَيُحَدِّثُ النَّاسَ"، فَكَثُرُوا حَوْلَهُ، فَأَرَادَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُسْمِعَهُمْ، فَقَالَ:"ابْنُوا لِي شَيْئًا أَرْتَفِعُ عَلَيْهِ"، قَالُوا: كَيْفَ يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ؟، قَالَ:"عَرِيشٌ كَعَرِيشِ مُوسَى"، فَلَمَّا أَنْ بَنَوْا لَهُ، قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: حَنَّتْ وَاللَّهِ الْخَشَبَةُ، قَالَ الْحَسَنُ: سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ! هَلْ تُبْتَغَى قُلُوبُ قَوْمٍ سَمِعُوا؟ قَالَ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ: يَعْنِي هَذَا.

Sunan al-Darimi 39

Narrated by Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him), that before the pulpit was built, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to deliver the sermon leaning on a trunk of a date palm tree. When the pulpit was built and he turned towards it, the trunk started crying. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) hugged it, and it became quiet. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Had I not embraced it, it would have continued crying till the Day of Resurrection."

سیدنا ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے مروی ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ منبر بنائے جانے سے پہلے ایک تنے کا سہارا لے کر خطبہ دیا کرتے تھے، پھر جب منبر بن گیا اور آپ اس کی طرف متوجہ ہوئے تو وہ تنا رونے لگا، آپ ﷺ نے اسے چمٹا لیا تو وہ خاموش ہو گیا، فرمایا: ”میں اگر اسے چمٹاتا نہیں تو یہ قیامت تک روتا رہتا۔“

Sayyidna Ibn Abbas ( (رضي الله تعالى عنه) a se marvi hai ki Nabi Kareem (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) mimbar banaye jane se pehle ek tane ka sahara lekar khutba diya karte the, phir jab mimbar ban gaya aur aap uski taraf mutawajjah huye to woh tana rone laga, aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne use chamta liya to woh khamosh ho gaya, farmaya: "Main agar use chamtaata nahin to yeh qayamat tak rota rehta."

أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُمَا، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ: يَخْطُبُ إِلَى جِذْعٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَتَّخِذَ الْمِنْبَرَ، فَلَمَّا اتَّخَذَ الْمِنْبَرَ وَتَحَوَّلَ إِلَيْهِ، حَنَّ الْجِذْعُ، فَاحْتَضَنَهُ، فَسَكَنَ"، وَقَالَ: "لَوْ لَمْ أَحْتَضِنْهُ، لَحَنَّ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ"، أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَجَّاجُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ،.

A similar narration has been reported from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him).

سیدنا انس رضی اللہ عنہ سے بھی اسی طرح کی روایت مروی ہے۔

Narrated Sahl bin Sa'd: (The baby) in whose lap the Prophet (ﷺ) was sitting, urinated (on his clothes) so the Prophet (ﷺ) asked for water and sprinkled it (on his clothes).

سیدنا سہل بن سعد رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ وہ ”تنا“ جس کے پاس آپ ﷺ کھڑے ہوتے تھے، رو پڑا پس رسول اللہ ﷺ اس کے پاس آئے، اپنا دست مبارک اس پر رکھا تو وہ خاموش ہو گیا۔

Sayyidina Sahl bin Saad (رضي الله تعالى عنه) se riwayat hai ki woh Tana jiske paas Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) kharay hotay thay, ro pada pas Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) uske paas aaye, apna dast mubarak us par rakha to woh khamosh ho gaya.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: حَنَّتِ الْخَشَبَةُ الَّتِي كَانَ يَقُومُ عِنْدَهَا،"فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَيْهَا، وَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَيْهَا"، فَسَكَنَتْ.

Sunan al-Darimi 42

Anas ibn Malik narrated that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand to deliver the sermon on Friday, he would lean on a trunk of a date palm tree placed in the back of the mosque. A Roman man came to him and said, "Shall I make something for you that you can sit on, and when you sit on it, it will be as if you are standing?" So he made the pulpit, which had two steps on which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would stand and a third on which he would sit. When the Prophet of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended it, the trunk groaned like a camel calf out of sadness for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the mosque echoed with its sound. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) went to it and embraced it, and it became silent. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "By Him in whose hand is my soul, if I had not embraced it, it would have continued to cry like this out of separation from the Messenger of Allah until the Day of Judgment." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that the trunk be buried.

سیدنا انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ جب رسول الله ﷺ جمعہ کے دن خطبہ کے لئے کھڑے ہوتے تو اپنی پشت مسجد میں رکھے ایک تنے سے ٹکاتے تھے، ایک رومی آپ کے پاس آیا اور عرض کیا کہ میں آپ کے لئے ایسی چیز بنا دیتا ہوں جس پر آپ بیٹھے بھی ہوں تو ایسا لگے کہ کھڑے ہیں، چنانچہ اس نے منبر بنایا جس کی دو سیڑھیوں پر آپ کھڑے ہوتے اور تیسری پر بیٹھتے تھے، جب اللہ کے نبی ﷺ اس پر تشریف فرما ہوئے تو وہ تنا رسول اللہ ﷺ کے غم میں بیل کی طرح ڈکرانے لگا اور مسجد گونجنے لگی، رسول اللہ ﷺ اس کے پاس گئے اسے چمٹا لیا تو وہ خاموش ہو گیا، پھر آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”قسم ہے اس ذات کی جس کے قبضے میں میری جان ہے اگر میں اسے چمٹاتا نہیں تو یہ اللہ کے رسول کے فراق میں قیامت تک اسی طرح روتا رہتا“، پھر رسول الله ﷺ نے حکم فرمایا اور اس تنے کو دفن کر دیا گیا۔

Sayyidina Anas (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne bayan kiya ke jab Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) juma ke din khutba ke liye kharay hote to apni pusht masjid mein rakhe ek tane se takate thay, ek romi aap ke pass aya aur arz kiya ke main aap ke liye aisi cheez bana deta hun jis par aap baithe bhi hon to aisa lage ke kharay hain, chunancha usne mimbar banaya jis ki do seedhiyon par aap kharay hote aur teesri par baithtay thay, jab Allah ke Nabi (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) is par tashrif farma huwe to wo tana Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ke gham mein bail ki tarah dikarane laga aur masjid goonjne lagi, Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) is ke pass gaye use chimata liya to wo khamosh ho gaya, phir aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ”Qasam hai is zaat ki jis ke qabze mein meri jaan hai agar main ise chimata nahin to ye Allah ke Rasul ke firaq mein qayamat tak isi tarah rota rehta“, phir Rasul Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne hukm farmaya aur is tane ko dafan kar diya gaya.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي خَلَفٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ: يَقُومُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، فَيُسْنِدُ ظَهْرَهُ إِلَى جِذْعٍ مَنْصُوبٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَيَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ، فَجَاءَهُ رُومِيٌّ، فَقَالَ: أَلَا أَصْنَعُ لَكَ شَيْئًا تَقْعُدُ عَلَيْهِ وَكَأَنَّكَ قَائِمٌ؟ فَصَنَعَ لَهُ مِنْبَرًا لَهُ دَرَجَتَانِ، وَيَقْعُدُ عَلَى الثَّالِثَةِ، فَلَمَّا قَعَدَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ الْمِنْبَرِ، خَارَ الْجِذْعُ كَخُوَارِ الثَّوْرِ حَتَّى ارْتَجَّ الْمَسْجِدُ حُزْنًا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَنَزَلَ إِلَيْهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ الْمِنْبَرِ، فَالْتَزَمَهُ وَهُوَ يَخُورُ، فَلَمَّا الْتَزَمَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، سَكَنَ، ثُمَّ قَالَ:"أَمَا وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَوْ لَمْ أَلْتَزِمْهُ، لَمَا زَالَ هَكَذَا إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ حُزْنًا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ"، فَأَمَرَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَدُفِنَ.
