Narrated Abdullah: The Prophet (ﷺ) drew a square and drew a line in the middle of it and let its end extend outside the square and drew several small lines attached to that line in the middle and said, "This is (the figure of) a human being, and this (square) is his death which is surrounding him from all sides (and is coming closer to him), and this line, which is outside (the square), represents his hope and wishful thinking and these small lines are the calamities and troubles (which may befall him), and if one of these misses him, another will snap (i.e. overpower) him, and if the other misses him, a third will snap (i.e. overpower) him." (Sahih al-Bukhari)

عبداللہ ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، نبی ﷺ نے ایک مربع شکل خط کھینچا اور ایک خط (اس مربع کے) وسط میں اس سے باہر جاتا ہوا کھینچا اور کچھ اس وسط والے خط کے پہلو میں چھوٹے چھوٹے خط اور کھینچے اور فرمایا :’’ یہ انسان ہے اور یہ اس کی اجل (موت) ہے ، جو اسے گھیرے ہوئے ہے اور جو باہر کی طرف نکل رہی ہے یہ اس کی امید ہے ، اور یہ چھوٹے چھوٹے خطوط پیش آمدہ حادثات ہیں ، اگر ایک اس سے خطا کر جاتا ہے تو یہ (دوسرا) اسے دبوچ لیتا ہے ، اور اگر یہ اس سے خطا کر جاتا ہے تو یہ اسے دبوچ لیتا ہے ۔‘‘ رواہ البخاری ۔
Abdullah bayan karte hain, Nabi ne aik murabba shakal khat khencha aur aik khat (iss murabbe ke) wasat mein iss se bahar jata hua khencha aur kuch iss wasat wale khat ke pehlu mein chhote chhote khat aur khenche aur farmaya: ''Yeh insaan hai aur yeh iss ki ajal (maut) hai, jo issay ghere hue hai aur jo bahar ki taraf nikal rahi hai yeh iss ki umeed hai, aur yeh chhote chhote khutut pesh aamad hadisat hain, agar aik iss se khata kar jata hai to yeh (dusra) issay daboch leta hai, aur agar yeh iss se khata kar jata hai to yeh issay daboch leta hai.'' Riwayat al Bukhari.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) drew some lines and said, "This is hope, and this is its death. He is in between them, and if the nearer line comes suddenly upon him…" (Sahih al-Bukhari).

انس ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، نبی ﷺ نے کچھ خط کھینچے تو فرمایا :’’ یہ امید ہے ، اور یہ اس کی موت ہے ، وہ اسی اثنا میں ہوتا ہے تو زیادہ قریب والا خط اچانک اس تک آ پہنچتا ہے ۔‘‘ رواہ البخاری ۔
Anas bayan karte hain, Nabi ne kuch khat khenche to farmaya: ''Yeh umeed hai, aur yeh us ki maut hai, woh isi asna mein hota hai to zyada qareeb wala khat achanak us tak aa pahunchta hai.'' Riwayat al-Bukhari.
Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Two things in a person increase with age: love of wealth and love of life." (Agreed upon)

انس ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ انسان بوڑھا ہو جاتا ہے لیکن اس کی دو چیزیں جوان رہتی ہیں ، مال کی حرص اور عمر کی حرص ۔‘‘ متفق علیہ ۔
Anas bayan karte hain, Nabi ne farmaya: "Insaan boodha ho jata hai lekin us ki do cheezen jawan rehti hain, maal ki haris aur umar ki haris." Muttafiq alaih.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The heart of an old person remains young in two things: love of the world and excessive desires." Agreed upon.

ابوہریرہ ؓ نبی ﷺ سے روایت کرتے ہیں ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ بوڑھے شخص کا دل دو چیزوں کے بارے میں جوان ہی رہتا ہے : دنیا کی محبت کے بارے میں اور لمبی خواہشوں کے بارے میں ۔‘‘ متفق علیہ ۔
Abu Hurairah RA Nabi SAW se riwayat karte hain, Aap SAW ne farmaya: "Budhe shakhs ka dil do cheezon ke bare mein jawan hi rehta hai: Duniya ki mohabbat ke bare mein aur lambi khwahishon ke bare mein." Muttafiq alaih.
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Allah has removed the excuse of a person whose lifespan has been extended until He grants him sixty years.”

ابوہریرہ ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ اللہ نے اس شخص سے (توبہ نہ کرنے اور نیک عمل نہ کرنے کا) عذر زائل کر دیا جس کی اجل کو مؤخر کیا حتیٰ کہ اسے ساٹھ سال تک پہنچا دیا ۔‘‘ رواہ البخاری ۔
Abu Huraira bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah ne farmaya: Allah ne is shakhs se (tauba na karne aur nek amal na karne ka) uzr zaail kar diya jis ki ajal ko moakhar kya hatta ke use saath saal tak pahuncha diya. Riwayat Bukhari.
Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If a person had two valleys of wealth, he would wish for a third, and nothing would fill the belly of man except dust (i.e., death). And Allah accepts the repentance of him who repents." Agreed upon.

ابن عباس ؓ نبی ﷺ سے روایت کرتے ہیں ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ اگر انسان کے لیے مال کی دو وادیاں ہوں تو وہ تیسری تلاش کرتا ہے ، انسان کے پیٹ کو صرف (قبر کی) مٹی ہی بھرے گی ، اور اللہ توبہ کرنے والے شخص کی توبہ قبول فرماتا ہے ۔‘‘ متفق علیہ ۔
Ibn Abbas RA Nabi SAW se riwayat karte hain, aap SAW ne farmaya: ''Agar insaan ke liye maal ki do wadiyan hon to woh teesri talaash karta hai, insaan ke pet ko sirf (qabar ki) mitti hi bharegi, aur Allah tauba karne wale shakhs ki tauba qubool farmata hai.'' Muttafiq alaih.
Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of my shoulder and said, "Live in this world as though you are a stranger or a traveler," and he added, "Count yourself among the inhabitants of the graves (i.e., the dead)." - Sahih al-Bukhari.

ابن عمر ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے میرے جسم کے کسی حصے کو پکڑ کر فرمایا :’’ دنیا میں ایسے رہو گویا تم ایک پردیسی یا راہ گیر ہو اور اپنے آپ کو اہل قبور (مُردوں) میں سے شمار کرو ۔‘‘ رواہ البخاری ۔
Ibn Umar bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah ne mere jism ke kisi hisse ko pakar kar farmaya: ''Duniya mein aise raho goya tum ek pardesi ya rahgeer ho aur apne aap ko ahl-e-quboor (murdon) mein se shumaar karo.'' Riwayat Al-Bukhari.
Abdullah bin Amr narrated: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) passed by us while I and my mother were plastering a part (of our house). He (ﷺ) said, "What is this, O Abdullah?" I replied, "We are repairing (a part of) the house." He (ﷺ) said, "(The matter of) death is swifter than this." Ahmad, Tirmidhi. He (Tirmidhi) said: This Hadith is Gharib. (It contains a narrator whose reporting is not strong). Sahih, narrated by Ahmad and Tirmidhi.

عبداللہ بن عمرو ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، رسول اللہ ﷺ ہمارے پاس سے گزرے تو میں اور میری والدہ (اپنے مکان کے) کسی حصہ کی لپائی کر رہے تھے ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ عبداللہ ! کیا ہو رہا ہے ؟‘‘ میں نے عرض کیا ، ہم (مکان کے کسی) حصہ کی مرمت کر رہے ہیں ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ معاملہ (موت) اس سے زیادہ تیز ہے ۔‘‘ احمد ، ترمذی ، اور فرمایا : یہ حدیث غریب ہے ۔ صحیح ، رواہ احمد و الترمذی ۔
Abdullah bin Amro bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah hamare pass se guzre to main aur meri walida apne makaan ke kisi hissa ki lipai kar rahe the, Aap ne farmaya: ''Abdullah! kya ho raha hai?'' Maine arz kiya, hum makaan ke kisi hissa ki maramat kar rahe hain, Aap ne farmaya: ''Mamla maut is se ziada tez hai.'' Ahmad, Tirmidhi, aur farmaya: Yah hadees ghareeb hai. Sahih, Rawah Ahmad wa Tirmidhi.
It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) would urinate, he would perform tayammum (dry ablution) with dust. I said, "O Messenger of Allah! Water is near you." He (peace be upon him) said: "What do I know, perhaps I may not reach it." (Sharh al-Sunnah). Ibn al-Jawzi also narrated it in his book "al-Wafa".
Its chain of narration is weak; it is narrated in Sharh al-Sunnah.

ابن عباس ؓ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کبھی پیشاب کرتے تو مٹی سے تیمم کرتے ، میں عرض کرتا ، اللہ کے رسول ! پانی تو آپ کے قریب ہی ہے ، آپ ﷺ فرماتے :’’ مجھے کیا پتہ شاید کہ میں وہاں تک نہ پہنچ سکوں ۔‘‘ شرح السنہ ، اور ابن جوزی نے کتاب ’’الوفاء‘‘ میں اسے روایت کیا ہے ۔ اسنادہ ضعیف ، رواہ فی شرح السنہ ۔
Ibn Abbas se riwayat hai keh Rasool Allah kabhi peshab karte to mitti se tayammum karte, main arz karta, Allah ke Rasool! Pani to aap ke qareeb hi hai, aap farmate: ''Mujhe kya pata shayad keh main wahan tak na pohnch sakun.'' Sharahus Sunnah, aur Ibn Jauzi ne kitab ''Al-Wafa'' mein ise riwayat kiya hai. Isnaadahu zaeef, riwah fi Sharahus Sunnah.
Narrated Anas: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "This is man, and this is his death." He (ﷺ) placed his hand near his cushion, then he opened it and said, "And there are his hopes." (Sahih) Narrated by Tirmidhi.

انس ؓ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ یہ انسان ہے اور یہ اس کی موت ہے ۔‘‘ اور آپ ﷺ نے اپنا ہاتھ اپنی گدی کے پاس رکھا ، پھر کھولا تو فرمایا :’’ اور وہاں اس کی آرزوئیں ہیں ۔‘‘ اسنادہ صحیح ، رواہ الترمذی ۔
Anas RA se riwayat hai keh Nabi SAW ne farmaya: "Yeh insan hai aur yeh is ki maut hai." Aur aap SAW ne apna hath apni gaddi ke pass rakha, phir khola to farmaya: "Aur wahan is ki aarzooein hain." Isnaad-e-Sahih, Riwayat Al-Tirmidhi.
Abu Saeed Khudri narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) stuck a stick in the ground, one to its side, and one further away. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Do you know what this is?" The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) replied, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "This is man, and this is death." The narrator states, I think, he (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "These are aspirations. He strives to fulfill those aspirations, but before he can achieve them, death overtakes him." (Sunan Abi Dawud, Book 42, Hadith 4812)

ابوسعید خدری ؓ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی ﷺ نے اپنے سامنے ایک لکڑی گاڑی ، ایک اس کے پہلو میں اور ایک اس کے دور گاڑی ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ کیا تم جانتے ہو یہ کیا ہے ؟‘‘ صحابہ ؓ نے عرض کیا : اللہ اور اس کے رسول زیادہ جانتے ہیں ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ یہ انسان ہے اور یہ اجل ہے ۔‘‘ راوی بیان کرتے ہیں ، میرا خیال ہے ، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ یہ آرزوئیں ہیں ، وہ آرزوئیں حاصل کرنے کے لیے کوشش کرتا ہے تو اس کی آرزو کے پورا ہونے سے پہلے اسے موت آ جاتی ہے ۔‘‘ اسنادہ حسن ، رواہ فی شرح السنہ ۔
Abu Saeed Khudri se riwayat hai ke Nabi ne apne samne ek lakdi gaari, ek iske pehlu mein aur ek iske door gaari, Aap ne farmaya: ''Kia tum jante ho ye kya hai?'' Sahaba ne arz kia: Allah aur uske Rasool zyada jante hain, Aap ne farmaya: ''Ye insan hai aur ye ajal hai.'' Rawi bayan karte hain, mera khayal hai, Aap ne farmaya: ''Ye arzuain hain, wo arzuain hasil karne ke liye koshish karta hai to iski arzu ke pura hone se pehle ise maut aa jati hai.'' Isnadahu Hasan, riwayat fi sharah al-sunnah.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “The lifespan of my Ummah is between sixty and seventy years.” Tirmidhi said: This hadith is gharib (strange). Its chain of narration is hasan (good). Narrated by Tirmidhi.

Abu Hurairah RA Nabi SAW se riwayat karte hain, aap SAW ne farmaya: “Meri ummat ki umar saath aur sattar saal ke darmiyan hai.” Tirmidhi, aur farmaya: Yah hadees ghareeb hai. Isnaadah hasan, riwayat Al-Tirmidhi.
Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "The lifespan of my Ummah is between sixty and seventy years, and few of them will exceed that (sixty or seventy)." (Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah) Hasan (grade of hadith), narrated by Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah.
And a hadith narrated by Abdullah bin Shakir has already been mentioned in the chapter on visiting the sick.

ابوہریرہ ؓ بیان کرتے ہیں ، رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ میری امت کی عمریں ساٹھ اور ستر سال کے درمیان ہیں ، اور اس (ساٹھ ، ستر) سے تجاوز کرنے والے ان میں سے کم ہیں ۔‘‘ ترمذی ، ابن ماجہ ۔ حسن ، رواہ الترمذی و ابن ماجہ ۔\n اور عبداللہ بن شخیر سے مروی حدیث باب عیادۃ المریض میں ذکر ہو چکی ہے ۔\n
Abu Hurairah bayan karte hain, Rasool Allah ne farmaya: ''Meri ummat ki umren sath aur satar saal ke darmiyan hain, aur is (sath, satar) se tajawuz karne wale in mein se kam hain.'' Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah. Hasan, Riwayat al-Tirmidhi wa Ibn Majah. Aur Abdullah bin Shakir se marvi hadees bab 'iyadat al-marid mein zikar ho chuki hai.
Amr bin Shu'aib narrated from his father, from his grandfather, that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "The first righteousness of this Ummah (for the Hereafter) is certainty (in faith) and detachment from the world, while its first corruption is miserliness and (limitless) aspirations." (Weak chain of narration, narrated by Al-Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Iman)

عمرو بن شعیب اپنے والد سے اور وہ اپنے دادا سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ نبی ﷺ نے فرمایا :’’ اس امت کی پہلی صلاح (آخرت کا) یقین اور دنیا سے بے رغبتی ہے ، جبکہ اس کا اول فساد بخل اور (لامحدود) آرزوئیں ہیں ۔‘‘ سندہ ضعیف ، رواہ البیھقی فی شعب الایمان ۔
Amr bin Shuaib apne walid se aur wo apne dada se riwayat karte hain ke Nabi ne farmaya: ''Is ummat ki pehli salaah (aakhirat ka) yaqeen aur duniya se be-ragbati hai, jabke iska awwal fasad bukhl aur (lamehdood) aarzooein hain.'' Sanda zaeef, riwayat al-Bayhaqi fi Shu'ab al-Iman.
Sufyan Thori (may Allah have mercy on him) said, "Wearing thick, coarse clothes and eating dry food is not detachment from the world, rather, having few desires is detachment from the world." The chain of narration is weak. Mentioned in Sharh al-Sunnah.

سفیان ثوری ؒ نے فرمایا :’’ موٹا ، جھوٹا کپڑا پہننے اور روکھا سوکھا کھانے کا نام دنیا سے بے رغبتی نہیں ، بلکہ آرزوؤں کا کم ہونا دنیا سے بے رغبتی ہے ۔‘‘ اسنادہ ضعیف ، رواہ فی شرح السنہ ۔
Sufyan Sauri (RA) ne farmaya: ''Mota, jhoota kapda pehenne aur rokha sookha khane ka naam duniya se beragbati nahin, balkeh aarzoon ka kam hona duniya se beragbati hai.'' Isnadah zaeef, riwayat fi sharah al-sunnah.
Zayd bin Husayn (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates, I heard from Imam Malik (may Allah have mercy on him), he was asked, what is meant by detachment from the world? He said: Earning halal (lawful) and having few hopes.
The chain of narration is weak, narrated by Bayhaqi in Shu'ab al-Iman.

زید بن حسین ؒ بیان کرتے ہیں ، میں نے امام مالک ؒ سے سنا ، ان سے دریافت کیا گیا ، دنیا سے بے رغبتی سے کیا مراد ہے ؟ انہوں نے فرمایا : حلال کمائی اور امیدوں کا کم ہونا ۔ اسنادہ ضعیف ، رواہ البیھقی فی شعب الایمان ۔
Zaid bin Husain bayan karte hain, main ne Imam Malik se suna, un se دریافت kia gaya, duniya se be-ragbati se kya murad hai? Unhon ne farmaya: halal kamai aur umidon ka kam hona.
