'Imran bin Husain narrated that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) prayed three rak'ahs in 'Asr prayer. Al-Khirbaq said, "O Messenger of Allah! Have you forgotten or has the prayer been shortened?" He (ﷺ) said, "Has Al-Khirbaq spoken the truth?" They said, "Yes."
عمران بن حسین رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے عصر کی نماز تین رکعت پڑھی، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے خر بق نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا آپ بھول گئے یا نماز قصر کر دی گئی ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: کیا خر بق نے سچ کہا ہے؟ صحابہ نے کہا: جی ہاں۔
Imran bin Husain raziallahu anhuma kehte hain ke Rasool Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne Asr ki namaz teen rakat parhi, aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam se Khar Buq ne kaha: Allah ke Rasool! kya aap bhool gaye ya namaz qasar kar di gayi hai? Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: kya Khar Buq ne sach kaha hai? Sahaba ne kaha: ji haan.
'Ikrimah reported on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet ﷺ called the two prostrations of forgetfulness "the two prostrations which make up for the deficiency".
حضرت عکرمہؓ، حضرت ابن عباسؓ سے روایت کرتے ہیں، نبی ﷺ نے سہو کے دو سجدوں کو ’’سجدتان تشفعان‘‘ فرمایا، یعنی یہ دو سجدے کمی کو پورا کرنے والے ہیں۔
Hazrat Akarma RA, Hazrat Ibn Abbas RA se riwayat karte hain, Nabi SAW ne sahu ke do sajdon ko 'Sajdatain Tashfean' farmaya, yani ye do sajde kami ko pora karne wale hain.
Ibn Mas'ud narrated that:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) led us in prayer and either added something to it or omitted something from it. When he finished, we said: "O Allah's Messenger! Has something happened in the prayer?" He (ﷺ) then bent his knees, prostrated twice, and said: "If something had happened in the prayer I would have informed you, but I am a human and I forget just as you forget. So if I forget, remind me. And if any one of you is doubtful about his prayer, he should strive to (recall) what is correct, act upon that, and then prostrate twice."
ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہم کو نماز پڑھائی تو اس میں کچھ بڑھا دیا یا کچھ کم کر دیا۔ جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نماز سے فارغ ہو گئے تو ہم نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا نماز میں کچھ ہوا ہے؟ تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے گھٹنے ٹیک دیے، دو سجدے کیے اور فرمایا: اگر نماز میں کچھ ہوا ہوتا تو میں تمہیں بتا دیتا، لیکن میں بھی انسان ہوں اور تمہاری طرح بھول جاتا ہوں۔ تو اگر میں بھول جاؤں تو تم مجھے یاد دلا دو۔ اور اگر تم میں سے کسی کو اپنی نماز میں شک ہو جائے تو اسے چاہیے کہ وہ صحیح طریقے سے یاد کرنے کی کوشش کرے، اس پر عمل کرے، اور پھر دو سجدے کرے۔
Ibn Masood Raziallahu Anhu bayan karte hain ke Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne hum ko namaz parhayi to us mein kuch badha diya ya kuch kam kar diya. Jab Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam namaz se farigh ho gaye to hum ne kaha: Allah ke Rasool! Kya namaz mein kuch hua hai? To Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne apne ghutne tek diye, do sajde kiye aur farmaya: Agar namaz mein kuch hua hota to main tumhen bata deta, lekin main bhi insan hoon aur tumhari tarah bhul jata hoon. To agar main bhul jaoon to tum mujhe yaad dila do. Aur agar tum mein se kisi ko apni namaz mein shak ho jaye to use chahiye ke woh sahi tariqe se yaad karne ki koshish kare, us par amal kare, aur phir do sajde kare.
Alqama reported: Ibn Mas'ud said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led us in prayer and he either added or omitted (a portion of prayer). It was said to him: Messenger of Allah, has something happened in the prayer? He said, "Had there been anything, I would have informed you. But I am only a human being; I forget as you forget. So he who has doubt about his prayer should look to what is more correct, complete (his prayer) accordingly, then pronounce the (final) Salam and perform two prostrations."
القَمَة نے بیان کیا : ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہم کو نماز پڑھائی، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ( سہو کی وجہ سے ) اس میں کچھ زیادتی یا کمی کر دی، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کہا گیا کہ اللہ کے رسول! کیا نماز میں کچھ ہوا ہے؟ تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : اگر کچھ ہوتا تو میں تمہیں بتا دیتا، لیکن میں بھی تو انسان ہی ہوں، جس طرح تم بھول جاتے ہو میں بھی بھول جاتا ہوں، تو تم میں سے جسے اپنی نماز میں کوئی شک ہو جائے تو وہ ( یاد کر کے ) زیادہ صحیح ( عمل ) کی طرف رجوع کرے اور اس کے مطابق اپنی نماز پوری کرے، پھر سلام پھیرے اور دو سجدے کرے۔
Alqama ne bayan kiya: Ibn Masood (RA) ne kaha ke Rasool Allah (SAW) ne hum ko namaz parhai, to aap (SAW) ne (sahv ki waja se) is mein kuchh ziyadati ya kami kar di, to aap (SAW) se kaha gaya ke Allah ke Rasool! Kya namaz mein kuchh hua hai? To aap (SAW) ne farmaya: Agar kuchh hota to main tumhen bata deta, lekin main bhi to insaan hi hun, jis tarah tum bhul jate ho main bhi bhul jata hun, to tum mein se jise apni namaz mein koi shak ho jaye to woh (yaad kar ke) zyada sahih (amal) ki taraf ruju kare aur iske mutabiq apni namaz puri kare, phir salam phire aur do sajde kare.
Abu Abdillah (Muhammad) said: The Prophet (ﷺ) prayed five (rak'ahs) in the Zuhr prayer. It was said: Has anything been added to the prayer? The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "And what is that?" They said: You have prayed five (rak'ahs). So he performed two prostrations after he had finished his prayer with Taslim.
ابو عبداللہ (محمد) نے بیان کیا کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ظہر کی نماز میں پانچ (رکعات) پڑھ لیں۔ صحابہ نے کہا: کیا نماز میں کچھ اضافہ ہو گیا ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "اور وہ کیا ہے؟" صحابہ نے عرض کی: آپ نے پانچ (رکعات) پڑھیں ہیں۔ تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے نماز سے سلام پھیرنے کے بعد دو سجدے کیے۔
Abu Abdullah (Muhammad) ne bayan kiya keh Nabi Kareem sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne Zuhar ki namaz mein panch (rakat) parh lein. Sahaba ne kaha: Kya namaz mein kuch izafa ho gaya hai? Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: "Aur wo kya hai?" Sahaba ne arz ki: Aap ne panch (rakat) parhi hain. To Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne namaz se salam phirne ke baad do sajde kiye.
`Abdullah narrated that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When one of you is in doubt about his prayer, he should investigate what is correct, then conclude his prayer, then perform two prostrations.”
عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا ”جب تم میں سے کسی کو اپنی نماز میں شک ہو جائے تو وہ تحقیق کرے کہ کیا صحیح ہے پھر اپنی نماز پوری کرے اور پھر دو سجدے کرے“
Abdullah razi Allah anhu se riwayat hai ke Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya jab tum mein se kisi ko apni namaz mein shak ho jaye to wo tahqiq kare ke kya sahi hai phir apni namaz poori kare aur phir do sajde kare
Ibn Mas'ud said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led us in prayer and he either added or omitted (something). It was said: "O Messenger of Allah! Has something happened in the prayer?" He (ﷺ) said, "Nothing has happened, but I am only a human being and I forget as you forget. So whoever of you is in doubt about his prayer, let him confirm the correct way, complete his prayer upon that, then let him pronounce the Salam and perform two prostrations."
ابن مسعود رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہم کو نماز پڑھائی تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس میں کچھ زیادہ یا کم کر دیا، تو عرض کیا گیا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا نماز میں کچھ ہو گیا ہے؟ تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: کچھ نہیں ہوا، میں تو ایک انسان ہی ہوں، جیسے تم بھولتے ہو میں بھی بھول جاتا ہوں، سو تم میں سے جو اپنی نماز میں شک کرے تو وہ یقین کر لے، پھر اپنی نماز کو اس پر پورا کرے، پھر سلام پھیرے اور دو سجدے کرے۔
Ibn Masood Raziallahu Anhu kehte hain keh Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne hum ko namaz parhayi to aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne us mein kuchh zyada ya kam kar diya, to arz kiya gaya: Allah ke Rasool! kya namaz mein kuchh ho gaya hai? to aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: kuchh nahin hua, main to ek insan hi hun, jaise tum bhulte ho main bhi bhul jata hun, so tum mein se jo apni namaz mein shakk kare to woh yaqeen kar le, phir apni namaz ko us par poora kare, phir salaam phire aur do sajde kare.
Alqama narrated to us: He led us and prayed five (rak'ahs) in the noon prayer. Ibrahim said to him: What about you, O one-eyed man? He said: Yes. He (the Prophet) said: "He prostrated two prostrations (of forgetfulness)."
القمعہ نے ہمیں روایت بیان کی: انہوں نے ہماری امامت کی اور ظہر کی نماز میں پانچ (رکعات) پڑھائیں۔ ابراہیم نے ان سے کہا: آپ کا کیا حال ہے، اے یک چشم والے؟ انہوں نے کہا: ہاں۔ انہوں نے (نبی ﷺ نے) فرمایا: "انہوں نے دو سجدے (سہو کے) کیے۔"
Alqama ne humain riwayat bayaan ki: Unhon ne hamari imamat ki aur Zuhar ki namaz mein panch (rakat) parhaien. Ibrahim ne un se kaha: Aap ka kya haal hai, aye yak chashm wale? Unhon ne kaha: Haan. Unhon ne (Nabi (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam)) farmaya: "Unhon ne do sajde (sahv ke) kie."
Narrated `Alqama: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led us in prayer - Ibrahim (one of the narrators) was not sure whether the Prophet (ﷺ) offered a short or full rakah - and when he finished the prayer, it was said to him, "O Messenger of Allah! Was there something new about the prayer?" He said, "No, but what is the matter?" They said, "You prayed such and such (a short rakah)." So he drew up his legs and faced the Qiblah, and performed two prostrations (of Sahu), and then finished his prayer with Taslim. When he turned his face towards us, he said, "If there had been anything new about (this) prayer, I would have informed you, but I am only a human being like you, and I forget as you forget; so if I forget, remind me; and if anyone of you has any doubt in his prayer, he should aim at what is right and complete his prayer accordingly, and then perform two prostrations (of Sahu) and finish his prayer with Taslim.
عَلقَمَہ رَضِیَ اللہُ عَنْہُ سے رِوایَت ہے کہ رَسُول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں نماز پڑھائی تو ابراہیم (راوی حدیث میں سے ایک) کو یقین نہیں تھا کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مختصر رکعت پڑھی یا پوری، پھر جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے نماز پوری کر لی تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کہا گیا کہ یا رَسُول اللہ! کیا نماز میں کچھ نیا ہوا ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ نہیں، لیکن معاملہ کیا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اتنی اتنی نماز پڑھی (یعنی مختصر رکعت پڑھی) تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے دونوں قدم سمیٹے اور قبلہ رو ہو کر دو سجدے (سہو کے) کیے پھر نماز پوری کر کے سلام پھیرا، پھر جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنا رخ ہماری طرف کیا تو فرمایا کہ اگر (اس) نماز میں کچھ نیا ہوتا تو میں تمہیں ضرور بتاتا لیکن میں بھی تمہاری طرح ایک انسان ہوں، تم جس طرح بھول جاتے ہو میں بھی بھول جاتا ہوں، لہٰذا اگر میں بھول جاؤں تو مجھے یاد دلا دو اور تم میں سے جب کوئی اپنی نماز میں شک کرے تو وہ جو یقین کی بات ہو اسے لے کر اپنی نماز پوری کر لے، پھر دو سجدے (سہو کے) کرے اور نماز پوری کر کے سلام پھیرے ۔
Alqama Razi Allah Anhu se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne humain namaz parhayi to Ibrahim (Ravi Hadees mein se aik) ko yaqeen nahin tha ki Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne mukhtasir rakat parhayi ya poori, phir jab Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne namaz poori kar li to Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam se kaha gaya ki Ya Rasul Allah! kya namaz mein kuch naya hua hai? Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya ki nahin, lekin mamla kya hai? Unhon ne kaha ki Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne itni itni namaz parhayi (yani mukhtasir rakat parhayi) to Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne apne donon qadam samete aur qibla ru hokar do sajde (sahw ke) kiye phir namaz poori kar ke salaam phera, phir jab Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne apna rukh hamari taraf kiya to farmaya ki agar (is) namaz mein kuch naya hota to main tumhen zaroor batata lekin main bhi tumhari tarah ek insaan hun, tum jis tarah bhul jate main bhi bhul jata hun, lihaza agar main bhul jaoon to mujhe yaad dila do aur tum mein se jab koi apni namaz mein shak kare to woh jo yaqeen ki baat ho use lekar apni namaz poori kar le, phir do sajde (sahw ke) kare aur namaz poori kar ke salaam phere.
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "If one of you prays and does not know whether he prayed three or four, let him pray one rak'ah and perform two prostrations before the taslim. If he prayed three, then the two prostrations will complete it. And if he prayed four, then the two prostrations will repel Satan."
حضرت ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "تم میں سے جو شخص نماز پڑھے اور اسے شک ہو جائے کہ تین رکعتیں پڑھی ہیں یا چار تو وہ ایک رکعت اور پڑھ لے اور سلام پھیرنے سے پہلے دو سجدے کرے۔ اگر اس نے تین رکعتیں پڑھی ہوں گی تو یہ دو سجدے اس کی نماز کو پورا کر دیں گے اور اگر اس نے چار رکعتیں پڑھی ہوں گی تو یہ دو سجدے شیطان کو دور کرنے والے ہوں گے"۔
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri raziallahu anhu se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: "Tum mein se jo shakhs namaz parhe aur use shak ho jaye ki teen rakatay parhi hain ya chaar to woh ek rakat aur parh le aur salam phirne se pehle do sajde kare. Agar usne teen rakatein parhi hongi to ye do sajde uski namaz ko poora kar denge aur agar usne chaar rakatein parhi hongi to ye do sajde shaitan ko door karne wale honge".
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "If one of you doubts in his prayer, let him cast away his doubt and continue upon certainty. If he is certain he completed the prayer, then let him prostrate twice. If his prayer was complete, then the rak'ah and the prostrations will be voluntary. If it was incomplete, then the rak'ah will complete his prayer and the prostrations will be out of spite of Satan."
حضرت ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "تم میں سے کسی کو اپنی نماز میں شک ہو جائے تو وہ اپنے شک کو چھوڑ دے اور یقین پر قائم رہے۔ اگر اسے یقین ہو کہ اس نے نماز پوری کر لی ہے تو دو سجدے کر لے۔ اگر اس کی نماز پوری تھی تو وہ رکعت اور سجدے نفل ہوں گے۔ اور اگر وہ نامکمل تھی تو وہ رکعت اس کی نماز پوری کر دے گی اور سجدے شیطان کے غیظ کے لیے ہوں گے"۔
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri raziallahu anhu se riwayat hai ke Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: "Tum mein se kisi ko apni namaz mein shak ho jaye to wo apne shak ko chhor de aur yaqeen par qaem rahe. Agar use yaqeen ho ke usne namaz poori kar li hai to do sajda kar le. Agar uski namaz poori thi to wo rakat aur sajday nafil honge. Aur agar wo namukammal thi to wo rakat uski namaz poori kar degi aur sajday shaitan ke ghiz ke liye honge".
Abu Sa'eed al-Khudri reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: "When anyone of you prays and is not certain whether he has prayed three or four rak'ahs, he should perform two prostrations (of forgetfulness) while he is sitting. If Satan comes to anyone of you and says: 'You have broken your ablution,' he should say: 'You are a liar,' unless he hears a sound or smells anything."
حضرت ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "تم میں سے جب کوئی نماز پڑھے اور اسے شک ہو جائے کہ اس نے تین رکعتیں پڑھی ہیں یا چار تو بیٹھے ہوئے دو سجدے (سہو) کر لے۔ اور اگر تم میں سے کسی کے پاس شیطان آئے اور کہے کہ تم نے اپنی وضو توڑ دی ہے تو اسے کہہ دے کہ تو جھوٹا ہے، ہاں اگر اسے کوئی آواز سنائی دے یا بدبو محسوس ہو تو الگ بات ہے۔"
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri razi Allah anhu se riwayat hai keh Rasool Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: "Tum mein se jab koi namaz parhe aur use shak ho jaye keh usne teen rakatain parhi hain ya chaar to baithe huye do sajday (sahv) kar le. Aur agar tum mein se kisi ke paas shaitan aaye aur kahe keh tum ne apni wazu tod di hai to use keh de keh tu jhoota hai, haan agar use koi aawaz sunaai de ya badbu mehsoos ho to alag baat hai."
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported that the Prophet ﷺ said: "When one of you is approached by Satan and he says 'You have broken your wudu', he should say to himself 'You are lying', until he hears a sound with his ear or smells something with his nose."
حضرت ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”تم میں سے جب کسی کے پاس شیطان آئے اور کہے کہ تمہارا وضو ٹوٹ گیا ہے تو وہ اپنے دل میں کہے کہ ’تو جھوٹا ہے‘ یہاں تک کہ وہ اپنے کانوں سے آواز سنے یا اپنی ناک سے بو سونگھے“۔
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri raziallahu anhu se riwayat hai ke Nabi Kareem sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: ”Tum mein se jab kisi ke paas shaitan aaye aur kahe ke tumhara wazu tut gaya hai to wo apne dil mein kahe ke 'Tu jhoota hai' yahan tak ke wo apne kaano se aawaz sune ya apni naak se boo soonge".
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "If any one of you is unsure in his prayer, let him cast aside his doubt and continue upon what he is certain of. If he is certain of completing his prayer, let him perform two prostrations. If his prayer was complete, then the extra bowings and the two prostrations are extra. If his prayer was incomplete, then the bowing completed his prayer and the two prostrations were to spite Satan."
حضرت ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”تم میں سے جب کوئی اپنی نماز میں شک کرے تو وہ اپنے شک کو چھوڑ دے اور جس چیز پر اسے یقین ہو اس پر قائم رہے۔ اگر اسے اپنی نماز پوری کرنے کا یقین ہو تو دو سجدے کرے۔ اگر اس کی نماز پوری ہوچکی تھی تو اضافی رکوع اور دو سجدے نفل ہیں۔ اور اگر اس کی نماز نامکمل تھی تو رکوع سے اس کی نماز پوری ہوگئی اور دو سجدے شیطان کو جلانے کے لیے ہیں۔“
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri Radi Allahu Anhu se riwayat hai keh Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: "Tum mein se jab koi apni namaz mein shak kare to wo apne shak ko chhor de aur jis cheez per use yaqeen ho us per qaiem rahe. Agar use apni namaz poori karne ka yaqeen ho to do sajde kare. Agar uski namaz poori ho chuki thi to izafi rakah aur do sajde nafl hain. Aur agar uski namaz namukammal thi to rakah se uski namaz poori ho gayi aur do sajde shaitan ko jalane ke liye hain."
Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "If one of you prays but doubts whether he prayed three or four (rak'ahs), let him pray one rak'ah and perform two prostrations before the salutation. If it was a fourth (rak'ah), then the two prostrations will repel Satan from him. If it was a fifth (rak'ah), then the two prostrations will complete it."
حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”تم میں سے اگر کوئی نماز پڑھے پھر اسے شک ہو کہ تین رکعتیں پڑھی ہیں یا چار تو ایک رکعت اور پڑھ لے اور سلام پھیرنے سے پہلے دو سجدے کرے، اگر چار رکعتیں تھیں تو یہ دو سجدے شیطان کو اس سے دور کر دیں گے اور اگر پانچ رکعتیں تھیں تو یہ دو سجدے اس کی نماز کو پورا کر دیں گے۔“
Hazrat Ibn Abbas Radi Allahu Anhuma se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: "Tum mein se agar koi namaz parhe phir use shak ho ki teen rakatain parhi hain ya chaar to ek rakat aur parh le aur salam phirne se pehle do sajde kare, agar chaar rakatein thin to ye do sajde shaitan ko is se door kar denge aur agar paanch rakatein thin to ye do sajde is ki namaz ko poora kar denge."
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "If any of you doubts his prayer and does not know how much he has prayed, three or four, then let him stand and pray one rak'ah with its bowing and prostration. Then let him pray two prostrations while sitting. If he had already prayed five, then the two prostrations will make it odd. If he had already prayed four, then the two prostrations will be a rebuke for Satan."
ابو سعید خدری رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "تم میں سے اگر کوئی اپنی نماز میں شک کرے اور اسے معلوم نہ ہو کہ کتنی رکعتیں پڑھی ہیں، تین یا چار، تو وہ کھڑا ہو کر ایک رکعت اس کے رکوع اور سجدے کے ساتھ پڑھے۔ پھر بیٹھے ہوئے دو سجدے کرے۔ اگر اس نے پہلے پانچ پڑھی ہوں گی تو دو سجدے اسے طاق بنا دیں گے۔ اور اگر اس نے پہلے چار پڑھی ہوں گی تو یہ دو سجدے شیطان کے لیے ڈانٹ ہوں گے۔"
Abu Saeed Khudri razi Allah anhu se riwayat hai ki Rasool Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: "Tum mein se agar koi apni namaz mein shak kare aur usey malum na ho ki kitni rakatain parhi hain, teen ya chaar, to woh khada ho kar ek rakat iske rukooh aur sijde ke sath parhe. Phir baithe huye do sijde kare. Agar usne pehle panch parhi hongi to do sijde usey taq bana denge. Aur agar usne pehle chaar parhi hongi to ye do sijde shaitan ke liye daant honge."
Imran bin Husain narrated that: The Prophet ﷺ led them in prayer and performed two prostrations of forgetfulness, then he recited the tashahhud and ended the prayer with taslim.
حضرت عمران بن حسین رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے انہیں نماز پڑھائی تو دو سجدے سہو کئے پھر تشہد پڑھا اور سلام پھیر کر نماز سے فارغ ہوئے۔

Imran ibn Husayn: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prayed three rak'ahs of the 'Asr prayer. Al-Khirbaq said to him, "O Messenger of Allah! Have you forgotten or has the prayer been shortened?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Has Al-Khirbaq spoken the truth?" They said, "Yes."
عمران بن حسین رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے عصر کی تین رکعتیں پڑھائیں تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے خرباق نے کہا کہ اللہ کے رسول! کیا آپ بھول گئے یا نماز ہلکی کر دی گئی ہے؟ تو نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کیا خرباق سچ کہہ رہا ہے؟ صحابہ نے کہا جی ہاں۔
Imran bin Husain Radi Allahu Anhuma kehte hain ki Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne Asr ki teen rakaten parhaeen to aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam se Kharbaq ne kaha ki Allah ke Rasul! kya aap bhool gaye ya namaz halki kar di gayi hai? to Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya kya Kharbaq sach keh raha hai? Sahaba ne kaha ji haan.
Imran ibn Husain: The Prophet ﷺ led them in prayer and performed two prostrations of forgetfulness, then made the final tashahhud and said the salam.
حضرت عمران بن حسین رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے لوگوں کو نماز پڑھائی اور دو سجدے سہو کئے، پھر تشہد اخیرہ پڑھا اور سلام پھیرا۔
Hazrat Imran bin Hussain Radi Allaho Anho se riwayat hai keh Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne logon ko namaz parhai aur do sajde sahw kiye, phir tashahhud akhirah parhha aur salam phera.
'Imran bin Husain narrated that the Prophet ﷺ prayed Zuhr or Asr prayer three rak'ahs. He was told about it, so he said, "Is that so?" They said, "Yes." So he prayed one rak'ah, then he made the tashahhud and saluted. Then he performed two prostrations of forgetfulness, then he saluted.
حضرت عمران بن حسین رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے ظہر یا عصر کی نماز تین رکعات پڑھی۔ آپ ﷺ کو اس کی خبر دی گئی تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: کیا ایسا ہوا؟ صحابہ نے عرض کی جی ہاں۔ تو آپ ﷺ نے ایک رکعت اور پڑھائی پھر تشہد پڑھ کر سلام پھیرا، پھر آپ ﷺ نے دو سجدے سہو کیے پھر سلام پھیرا۔
Hazrat Imran bin Husain Radi Allahu Anhu se riwayat hai ki Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne Zuhar ya Asar ki namaz teen rakat parhaayi. Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ko is ki khabar di gayi to Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: kya aisa hua? Sahaba ne arz ki ji haan. To Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne ek rakat aur parhaayi phir tashahhud parh kar salam phera, phir Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne do sajde sahu kiye phir salam phera.
Mu'awiya narrated that he prayed the Maghrib prayer with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ). The Prophet (ﷺ) forgot and offered the Salam (prayer concluding salutations) after two rak'ahs (units of prayer). A man said to him, "O Messenger of Allah, you forgot and offered the Salam after two rak'ahs." The Prophet (ﷺ) then ordered Bilal to lead the prayer, and he completed that rak'ah. (Mu'awiya added): I asked the people about the man who had said, "O Messenger of Allah, you forgot." They said, "Do you recognize him?" I said, "No, but I can recognize him if I see him." A man passed by me, and I said, "This is he." They said, "This is Talha bin 'Ubaidullah."
معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے ساتھ مغرب کی نماز پڑھی۔ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم بھول گئے اور دو رکعتوں کے بعد سلام پھیر لیا۔ ایک شخص نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! آپ بھول گئے اور دو رکعتوں کے بعد سلام پھیر لیا۔ اس پر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے بلال رضی اللہ عنہ کو حکم دیا کہ وہ نماز پڑھائیں، چنانچہ انہوں نے وہ رکعت پوری کرائی۔ (معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں) میں نے لوگوں سے اس شخص کے بارے میں پوچھا جس نے کہا تھا کہ اللہ کے رسول! آپ بھول گئے۔ لوگوں نے کہا: کیا تم اسے پہچانتے ہو؟ میں نے کہا: نہیں، لیکن اگر میں اسے دیکھ لوں تو پہچان سکتا ہوں۔ اتنے میں ایک شخص میرے پاس سے گزرا تو میں نے کہا: یہ وہی شخص ہے۔ لوگوں نے کہا: یہ طلحہ بن عبیداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ ہیں۔

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, led us in one of the afternoon prayers and I think it was the noon prayer, and he prayed two rak'ahs. Then, he stood at a wooden beam in the direction of prayer in the mosque, placing one hand over the other. The people went out quickly, saying that the prayer had been shortened. Among the people were Abu Bakr and Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, but they hesitated to speak to him. There was a man among the people who had short or long forearms, and he was nicknamed "the one with the forearms." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, has the prayer been shortened or have you forgotten?" The Prophet said, "The prayer has not been shortened, nor have I forgotten." The man said, "But you have forgotten." The Prophet said, "Is the one with the forearms right?" They said, "Yes." So, he prayed two more rak'ahs and then concluded the prayer. Then, he bowed and prostrated like his usual prostration, or longer. Then he raised his head, said the takbir, bowed and prostrated like his usual prostration, or longer. Then he raised his head and said the takbir. I was informed by Imran ibn Husayn that he said, "Then the Prophet concluded the prayer."
حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہم کو ایک دن ظہر کی نماز پڑھائی، یا مجھے ظہر کی نماز ہی معلوم ہوتی ہے، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دو رکعتیں پڑھائیں، پھر مسجد میں قبلہ رخ لکڑی کے ایک ستون کی طرف کھڑے ہو گئے، اور ایک ہاتھ پر دوسرا ہاتھ رکھا، لوگ جلدی جلدی باہر نکلنے لگے اور کہنے لگے کہ نماز قصر کر دی گئی ہے، لوگوں میں حضرت ابوبکر اور حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہما بھی تھے، لیکن وہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھنے میں جھجھک رہے تھے، لوگوں میں ایک شخص تھا جس کے ہاتھ چھوٹے تھے یا لمبے تھے، اس کا لقب ذو الیدین تھا، اس نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! کیا نماز قصر کر دی گئی ہے یا آپ بھول گئے ہیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: نہ تو نماز قصر کی گئی ہے اور نہ ہی میں بھولا ہوں۔ اس نے کہا: بلکہ آپ بھول گئے ہیں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: کیا ذوالیدین ٹھیک کہہ رہا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا: ہاں۔ تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دو رکعتیں اور پڑھیں، پھر نماز پوری کی، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے معمول کے مطابق سجدہ کیا یا اس سے بھی لمبا سجدہ کیا، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنا سر اٹھایا، تکبیر کہی، اور جھکے اور اپنے معمول کے مطابق سجدہ کیا یا اس سے بھی لمبا، پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سر اٹھایا، اور تکبیر کہی، حضرت عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہ مجھے بتا رہے تھے کہ انہوں نے کہا: پھر نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے نماز پوری کی۔
Hazrat Abu Huraira razi Allah anhu se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne hum ko ek din Zuhar ki namaz parhayi, ya mujhe Zuhar ki namaz hi maloom hoti hai, Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne do rakatain parhayi, phir masjid mein Qibla rukh lakdi ke ek satoon ki taraf khade ho gaye, aur ek hath par dusra hath rakha, log jaldi jaldi bahar nikalne lage aur kahne lage ki namaz Qasar kar di gayi hai, logon mein Hazrat Abubakar aur Hazrat Umar razi Allah anhuma bhi the, lekin woh Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam se puchne mein jhijhak rahe the, logon mein ek shakhs tha jiske hath chhote the ya lambe the, uska laqab Zu al-Yadain tha, usne kaha: Allah ke Rasul! kya namaz Qasar kar di gayi hai ya Aap bhool gaye hain? Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: na to namaz Qasar ki gayi hai aur na hi main bhoola hun. Usne kaha: balki Aap bhool gaye hain. Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: kya Zu al-Yadain theek kah raha hai? Unhon ne kaha: haan. To Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne do rakatain aur parhayi, phir namaz poori ki, phir Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne apne mamul ke mutabiq sajdah kiya ya us se bhi lamba sajdah kiya, phir Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne apna sar uthaya, takbeer kahi, aur jhuke aur apne mamul ke mutabiq sajdah kiya ya us se bhi lamba, phir Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne sar uthaya, aur takbeer kahi, Hazrat Imran bin Haseen razi Allah anhu mujhe bata rahe the ki unhon ne kaha: phir Nabi Kareem sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne namaz poori ki.
'Abd Allah ibn Malik ibn Buhayna reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led us in the Zuhr prayer and stood up while there was (still some time) for sitting. When he was at the end of his prayer, he prostrated twice while he was sitting.
عبداللہ بن ملک بن بحینہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں ظہر کی نماز پڑھائی اور بیٹھنے کے لیے کچھ دیر باقی تھی کہ آپ کھڑے ہو گئے، پھر جب آپ نماز کے آخر میں پہنچے تو آپ نے بیٹھے ہوئے دو سجدے کیے۔
Abdullah bin Malik bin Buhaina Radi Allahu Anhu kehte hain ki Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne hamen Zuhar ki namaz parhai aur baithne ke liye kuch der baqi thi ki Aap kharay ho gaye, phir jab Aap namaz ke akhir mein pahunche to Aap ne baithe hue do Sajde kiye.
Ibn Buhaynah reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood up (to offer) two rak'ahs (of Sunnah of Fajr prayer). The people also stood up along with him. When he sat down (after offering) four (rak'ahs), the people waited for his Salam. He then pronounced Takbir and performed one prostration, then again pronounced Takbir and performed one more prostration before pronouncing Salam.
ابن بُحینہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم دو رکعت (نماز فجر کی سنت) کے لیے کھڑے ہوئے تو لوگ بھی آپ کے ساتھ کھڑے ہو گئے، پھر جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم چار (رکعتیں) پڑھ کر بیٹھ گئے تو لوگ آپ کے سلام کے منتظر تھے کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے تکبیر کہی اور ایک سجدہ کیا پھر تکبیر کہی اور ایک سجدہ کیا، پھر سلام پھیرا۔
Ibne Buhaina razi Allah unhu se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam do rakat (namaz fajr ki sunnat) ke liye khade huye to log bhi aap ke sath khade ho gaye, phir jab aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam chaar (rakatein) parh kar beth gaye to log aap ke salam ke muntazir the ki aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne takbeer kahi aur ek sajda kiya phir takbeer kahi aur ek sajda kiya, phir salam pheira.
Abd Allah ibn Buhaynah, the client of Banu Abd al-Muttalib, reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood up to perform the noon prayer while some people were sitting with him. When he finished his prayer, he prostrated twice while sitting before he gave the greeting of peace (salam), and the people prostrated with him in the places where they had forgotten [to do so] during the sitting.
عبداللہ بن بُحینہ، جو کہ بنو عبد المطلب کے مولیٰ تھے، بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ ظہر کی نماز پڑھنے کے لیے کھڑے ہوئے اور کچھ لوگ آپ ﷺ کے ساتھ بیٹھے ہوئے تھے۔ جب آپ ﷺ نے نماز پوری کر لی تو سلام پھیرنے سے پہلے بیٹھے ہوئے دو سجدے کیے اور وہ لوگ بھی اپنے اپنے مقام پر سجدہ ریز ہوگئے جہاں وہ بیٹھے ہوئے بھول گئے تھے۔
Abdullah bin Buhaina, jo keh Banu Abd al-Muttalib ke Maula thay, bayan karte hain keh Rasul Allah ﷺ Zuhar ki namaz parhne ke liye khare huye aur kuch log aap ﷺ ke saath baithe huye thay. Jab aap ﷺ ne namaz puri kar li to salam phairne se pehle baithe huye do sajde kiye aur wo log bhi apne apne muqam par sajda riz hogaye jahan wo baithe huye bhul gaye thay.
Yahya bin Said al-Ansari narrated to me: Abdur-Rahman al-A'raj informed me that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) led the two rak'ahs of Zuhr prayer (the first two rak'ahs) and did not sit (in the second rak'ah for the Tashahhud). When he finished his prayer, he performed two prostrations (of Sahu) and then concluded with Taslim.
یحییٰ بن سعید انصاری نے مجھ سے بیان کیا : عبدالرحمٰن اعرج نے مجھے خبر دی کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ظہر کی دو رکعتیں ( پہلی دو رکعتیں ) پڑھائیں اور دوسری رکعت میں ( تشہد کے لیے ) نہ بیٹھے ، جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے نماز پوری کر لی تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دو سجدے ( سہو کے ) کیے ، پھر سلام پھیر کر نماز سے فارغ ہوئے ۔
Yahiya bin Saeed Ansari ne mujh se bayan kya : Abdurrahman Araj ne mujhe khabar di ke Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne Zuhar ki do rakaten (pehali do rakaten) parhaen aur dusri rakat mein (tashahhud ke liye) na baithe, jab aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne namaz puri kar li to aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne do sajde (sahv ke) kiye, phir salaam phir kar namaz se farigh huye.
Ibn Buhayna reported: The Prophet ﷺ prayed and stood up in the even-numbered unit of prayer in which he intended to sit. We glorified Allah (by saying Subhana Allah). Then he proceeded (to pray) and when he finished his prayer, he prostrated twice while sitting.
ابن بُحَینَہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریم ﷺ نے نماز پڑھی اور اس عدد والی رکعت میں کھڑے ہو گئے جس میں آپ ﷺ کا بیٹھنے کا ارادہ تھا تو ہم نے اللہ کی تسبیح کی (سبحان اللہ کہا) تو آپ ﷺ (نماز کی طرف) متوجہ ہوئے اور جب نماز سے فارغ ہوئے تو بیٹھے ہوئے دو سجدے کیے۔
Ibne Buhaina raza Allahu anhu se riwayat hai ke Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne namaz parhi aur us adad wali rakat mein khade ho gaye jis mein aap ka baithne ka irada tha to hum ne Allah ki tasbeeh ki (Subhan Allah kaha) to aap (namaz ki taraf) mutwajjah huye aur jab namaz se farigh huye to baithe huye do sajde kiye
'Abd Allah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led them in praying five prayers. When he finished (and said the Salam), he was told about that (i.e., that he had offered one extra Rak'ah), so he faced the Qiblah and prostrated twice while sitting.
عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے پانچ نمازیں پڑھائیں۔ جب آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نماز سے فارغ ہوئے (اور سلام پھیرا) تو آپ کو اس (یعنی ایک رکعت زائد پڑھنے) کی خبر دی گئی تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے قبلہ رخ ہو کر بیٹھے بیٹھے دو سجدے کیے۔
Abdullah razi Allahu anhu se riwayat hai keh Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne panch namazain parhaieen. Jab aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam namaz se farigh huye (aur salam phera) toh aap ko iss (yani aik rakat zaid parhne) ki khabar di gai toh aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne qibla rukh ho kar baithe baithe do sajde kiye.
Shu'ba narrated from Al-Hakam from Ibrahim from 'Alqamah from 'Abdullah: The Prophet ﷺ prayed the noon prayer with five rak'ahs. He was asked, "Has anything been added to the prayer?" The Prophet ﷺ said, "What is that?" They said, "You have prayed five rak'ahs." So he performed two prostrations after he had finished the prayer.
شُعبہ نے حکم سے روایت کی ، انہوں نے ابراہیم سے ، انہوں نے علقمہ سے اور انہوں نے حضرت عبداللہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت کی کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ظہر کی نماز پانچ رکعت پڑھی ۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے پوچھا گیا : کیا نماز میں کچھ اضافہ ہوگیا ہے ؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا : وہ کیا ؟ صحابہ کرام رضی اللہ عنہم نے عرض کی : آپ نے پانچ رکعت نماز پڑھی ہے ۔ تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے نماز سے فارغ ہو کر دو سجدے کیے ۔
Shuba ne hukm se riwayat ki, unhon ne Ibrahim se, unhon ne Alqama se aur unhon ne Hazrat Abdullah Radi Allahu Anhu se riwayat ki keh Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne Zuhar ki namaz panch rakat parhi. Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam se pucha gaya: kya namaz mein kuchh izafa ho gaya hai? Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: woh kya? Sahaba Ikram Radi Allahu Anhum ne arz ki: aap ne panch rakat namaz parhi hai. To aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne namaz se farigh ho kar do sajde kiye.
Malik narrated to us from Zuhri that the father of Salma ibn Abdur Rahman told him that the father of Haritha said, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Satan comes to one of you while he is in his prayer to confuse him so that he does not know how much he has prayed. If any of you finds that, he should perform two prostrations while sitting.'"
مالک نے زہری سے روایت کی ، انہوں نے سلمہ بن عبدالرحمٰن کے والد سے ، انہوں نے حارثہ کے والد سے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”شیطان تم میں سے کسی کے پاس اس کی نماز میں آتا ہے تاکہ اسے الجھن میں ڈالے کہ اسے معلوم نہ ہو کہ اس نے کتنی نماز پڑھی ہے۔ اگر تم میں سے کوئی ایسا پائے تو بیٹھے ہوئے دو سجدے کرے۔“
Malik ne Zuhri se riwayat ki, unhon ne Salma bin Abdur Rahman ke walid se, unhon ne Haritha ke walid se keh Rasool Allah ﷺ ne farmaya: ”Shaitan tum mein se kisi ke paas uski namaz mein aata hai taake usay uljhan mein dale keh usay maloom na ho keh us ne kitni namaz parhi hai. Agar tum mein se koi aisa paaye to baithe hue do sajde kare.“
Abu Hurairah narrated that:
The Messenger of Allah prayed for us - either Zuhr or 'Asr - and he finished the prayer with only two rak'ahs. Dhu Al-Yadayn, son of 'Abdu 'Amr, son of Nadlah Al-Khuza'i, the ally of the Banu Zuhra said, "Has the prayer been shortened, or did you forget, O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah said, "I did not forget, nor was it shortened." Dhu Al-Yadayn said, "Rather, some of it [slipped your mind] O Messenger of Allah." So the Messenger of Allah turned towards the people and said, "Did Dhu Al-Yadayn speak the truth?" They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." So the Messenger of Allah stood and completed the prayer.
ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہم کو ظہر یا عصر کی نماز پڑھائی تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے صرف دو رکعتوں کے ساتھ نماز ختم کردی۔ ذوالیدین بن عبد عمر و بن نضلہ خزاعی، جو بنو زہرہ کے حلیف تھے، نے کہا: "کیا نماز مختصر کر دی گئی ہے یا آپ بھول گئے ہیں، یا رسول اللہ؟" رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "میں نہ بھولا ہوں اور نہ ہی اسے مختصر کیا گیا ہے۔" ذوالیدین نے کہا: "بلکہ، اس میں سے کچھ آپ کی نظر سے اوجھل ہو گیا ہوگا یا رسول اللہ۔" تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے لوگوں کی طرف رخ کیا اور فرمایا: "کیا ذوالیدین نے سچ کہا؟" انہوں نے کہا: "جی ہاں، یا رسول اللہ۔" تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہوئے اور نماز پوری کی۔
Abu Hurairah razi Allah anhu ne bayan kiya keh Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne hum ko Zuhr ya Asr ki namaz parhayi to aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne sirf do rakaton ke sath namaz khatm kardi. Zulaydain bin Abd Umar wa bin Nazlah Khuzaee, jo Banu Zuhra ke halif thay, ne kaha: "Kya namaz mukhtasar kar di gayi hai ya aap bhul gaye hain, ya Rasul Allah?" Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: "Main na bhula hun aur na hi ise mukhtasar kiya gaya hai." Zulaydain ne kaha: "Balkeh, is mein se kuchh aap ki nazar se ojhal ho gaya hoga ya Rasul Allah." To Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne logon ki taraf rukh kiya aur farmaya: "Kya Zulaydain ne sach kaha?" Unhon ne kaha: "Jee haan, ya Rasul Allah." To Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam kharay huye aur namaz puri ki.
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prayed Zuhr or Asr and finished the prayer after two rak'ahs. Dhu al-Shimalain ibn 'Abd 'Amr, an ally of Banu Zuhra, said, "Has the prayer been shortened or have you forgotten, O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "What does the one with two hands say?" They said, "He is right, O Prophet of Allah." So he (the Prophet) completed the two rak'ahs he had missed, then he finished the prayer.
ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ظہر یا عصر کی نماز پڑھی اور دو رکعت کے بعد سلام پھیر دیا۔ ذوالشمالین بن عبد عمرو، جو بنو زہرہ کے حلیف تھے، نے کہا: "کیا نماز پوری نہیں ہوئی یا آپ بھول گئے، اللہ کے رسول؟" رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "یہ دو ہاتھ والا کیا کہہ رہا ہے؟" لوگوں نے کہا: "وہ سچ کہہ رہا ہے، اللہ کے نبی!" تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے جو دو رکعتیں رہ گئی تھیں وہ پوری کیں، پھر نماز ختم کی۔
Abu Hurairah razi Allah anhu se riwayat hai keh Rasool Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne Zuhar ya Asr ki namaz parhi aur do rakat ke baad salam pher diya. Zawash shamaleen bin Abd Amr, jo Banu Zuhrah ke halif thay, ne kaha: "Kya namaz puri nahi hui ya aap bhul gaye, Allah ke Rasool?" Rasool Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: "Yeh do hath wala kya keh raha hai?" Logon ne kaha: "Woh sach keh raha hai, Allah ke Nabi!" To aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne jo do rakatiyan reh gayi thin woh puri kin, phir namaz khatam ki.
Abu Hurairah narrated that: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) finished from two (rak'ahs of prayer), so Dhu Al-Yadayn said to him: "Has the prayer been shortened, or did you forget, O Messenger of Allah?" The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Dhu Al-Yadayn has spoken the truth." So the people said: "Yes (he has)." So the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) stood and prayed another two (rak'ahs), then he gave the Salam. Then he made the Takbir and prostrated like his prostration, or longer. Then he raised his head, then he made the Takbir and prostrated like his prostration, or longer, then he raised (his head).
ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے دو (رکعت) نماز پڑھ کر سلام پھیر لیا تو ذوالیدین رضی اللہ عنہ نے عرض کیا: یا رسول اللہ! کیا نماز ہلکی کر دی گئی ہے یا آپ بھول گئے؟ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ذوالیدین نے سچ کہا ہے۔ (یعنی نماز چار رکعت ہوتی ہے، میں بھول گیا) صحابہ نے عرض کیا جی ہاں (آپ بھول گئے) تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہوئے اور دو رکعتیں اور پڑھیں پھر سلام پھیرا، پھر تکبیر کہہ کر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سجدہ کیا جیسا کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سجدہ کرتے تھے یا اس سے طویل، پھر سر اٹھایا، پھر تکبیر کہی اور سجدہ کیا جیسا کہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سجدہ کرتے تھے یا اس سے طویل پھر سر اٹھایا۔
Abu Huraira razi Allah anhu se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne do (rak'at) namaz parh kar salam pher liya to Zul-Yadain razi Allah anhu ne arz kiya: Ya Rasul Allah! Kya namaz halki kar di gai hai ya aap bhul gaye? Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: Zul-Yadain ne sach kaha hai. (yani namaz chaar rak'at hoti hai, main bhul gaya) Sahaba ne arz kiya ji haan (aap bhul gaye) to aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam kharay huay aur do rak'aten aur parhin phir salam phira, phir takbeer kah kar aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne sajdah kiya jaisa ki aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam sajdah karte thay ya is se tawil, phir sar uthaya, phir takbeer kahi aur sajdah kiya jaisa ki aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam sajdah karte thay ya is se tawil phir sar uthaya.
Dhamdam ibn Jawas al-Hifani reported: Abu Huraira, the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), led us in one of the evening prayers and he prayed only two rak'ahs. A man from Khuza'ah, who was called Dhu al-Yadayn, said, "O Messenger of Allah, has the prayer been shortened or have you forgotten?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "All that has not happened." The man said, "O Messenger of Allah, you have prayed only two rak'ahs with us." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "What is Dhu al-Yadayn saying?" He turned to the people and they said, "O Messenger of Allah, you have prayed only two rak'ahs with us." The Prophet (ﷺ) stood up, faced the qiblah, and prayed the remaining two rak'ahs. Then he said the salam and prostrated twice while sitting.
ضَمْضَم بن جَوْس حِفَّانِی رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے ایک دن شام کی نماز ہمیں پڑھائی تو صرف دو رکعت پڑھیں، ایک خزاعی شخص جسے ذوالیدین کہتے تھے، کہنے لگا، اللہ کے رسول! کیا نماز ہلکی کر دی گئی ہے یا آپ بھول گئے؟ تو نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”ایسی بات نہیں ہے۔“ اس نے کہا کہ اللہ کے رسول! آپ نے ہمیں صرف دو ہی رکعت پڑھائیں ہیں۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ذوالیدین کیا کہہ رہا ہے؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے لوگوں کی طرف متوجہ ہو کر فرمایا، لوگوں نے عرض کیا کہ اللہ کے رسول! آپ نے ہمیں صرف دو ہی رکعت پڑھائیں ہیں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کھڑے ہوئے اور قبلہ رخ ہو کر باقی دو رکعتیں پڑھیں، پھر سلام پھیرا اور دو سجدے کیے اور بیٹھ گئے۔
Zamzam bin Jaus Hifani Radi Allahu Anhu se riwayat hai ki Abu Hurairah Radi Allahu Anhu ne ek din sham ki namaz hamen parhayi to sirf do rakat parhin, ek Khazaai shakhs jise Zul'aydain kehte thay, kehne laga, Allah ke Rasool! kya namaz halki kar di gayi hai ya aap bhul gaye? to Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: “Aisi baat nahin hai.” Usne kaha ki Allah ke Rasool! aap ne hamen sirf do hi rakat parhayi hain. Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya Zul'aydain kya keh raha hai? Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne logon ki taraf mutawajih ho kar farmaya, logon ne arz kiya ki Allah ke Rasool! aap ne hamen sirf do hi rakat parhayi hain. Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam kharay huye aur qibla rukh ho kar baqi do rakaten parhin, phir salam phera aur do sajde kiye aur baith gaye.
Abu Huraira narrated that: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ led us in one of the two evening prayers, either he said the afternoon prayer or he said the sunset prayer - he said, and my strongest opinion is that it was the sunset prayer - so he prayed two rak'ahs with us then he gave the Salam. Then he proceeded to a piece of wood in the front of the Masjid, so he placed his hands upon it, one of them upon the other, and the majority of the people exited. So they began to say, "The prayer has been shortened." And among the people were Abu Bakr and Umar, may Allah be pleased with them, yet they shied away from asking the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about that. And a man who was called Dhu al-Yadayn said, "Has the prayer been shortened, O Messenger of Allah, or have you forgotten?" He said, «The prayer has not been shortened, nor have I forgotten.» He said, "Rather, you have forgotten, O Messenger of Allah." He said, «Like that?» They said, "Yes." So he returned and prayed with us two rak'ahs then gave the Salam, then he prostrated two prostrations and lengthened them similar to his prostration, then he raised his head, then he prostrated the second and lengthened it similar to his prostration, then he raised his head. And it was said to Muhammad, "Then he gave the Salam?" He said, "I did not memorize that from Abu Huraira, and I was informed that Imran bin Husayn said, "Then he gave the Salam."
حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں شام کی دو نمازوں میں سے ایک نماز پڑھائی، یا تو انہوں نے عصر کی نماز پڑھائی یا انہوں نے مغرب کی نماز پڑھائی، راوی کہتے ہیں اور میرا غالب گمان ہے کہ وہ مغرب کی نماز تھی، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمارے ساتھ دو رکعتیں پڑھیں پھر سلام پھیر لیا، پھر مسجد کے آگے ایک لکڑی کے پاس تشریف لے گئے، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس پر اپنے دونوں ہاتھ رکھے ایک کو دوسرے کے اوپر رکھا، اور لوگوں کی اکثریت مسجد سے نکل گئی، تو وہ کہنے لگے کہ نماز مختصر کر دی گئی ہے، اور لوگوں میں حضرت ابوبکر رضی اللہ عنہ اور حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ بھی تھے، لیکن وہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سے اس بارے میں پوچھنے سے ہچکچائے، اور ایک شخص جنہیں ذوالیدین کہا جاتا تھا، انہوں نے کہا کہ یا رسول اللہ! کیا نماز مختصر کر دی گئی ہے یا آپ بھول گئے ہیں؟ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا «نہ تو نماز مختصر کی گئی ہے اور نہ ہی میں بھولا ہوں» انہوں نے کہا کہ بلکہ آپ بھول گئے ہیں یا رسول اللہ، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا «کیا ایسا ہی ہے؟» انہوں نے کہا جی ہاں، تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم واپس آئے اور ہمارے ساتھ دو رکعتیں پڑھیں پھر سلام پھیرا، پھر دو سجدے کیے اور انہیں اپنی سجدہ کی طرح لمبا کیا، پھر سر اٹھایا، پھر دوسری سجدہ کی اور اسے اپنی سجدہ کی طرح لمبا کیا، پھر سر اٹھایا، راوی سے کہا گیا کہ پھر سلام پھیرا؟ کہنے لگے میں نے یہ بات ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے یاد نہیں کی، اور مجھے بتلایا گیا کہ حضرت عمران بن حصین رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا کہ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سلام پھیرا۔
Hazrat Abu Huraira Radi Allahu Anhu se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne hamen Sham ki do namaazon mein se ek namaz parhayi, ya to unhon ne Asar ki namaz parhayi ya unhon ne Maghrib ki namaz parhayi, ravi kehte hain aur mera ghalib guman hai ki woh Maghrib ki namaz thi, to aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne hamare saath do rakaten parhin phir salam phir liya, phir masjid ke aage ek lakdi ke paas tashrif le gaye, to aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne us par apne donon hath rakhe ek ko dusre ke upar rakha, aur logon ki aksariyat masjid se nikal gayi, to woh kehne lage ki namaz mukhtasar kar di gayi hai, aur logon mein Hazrat Abubakar Radi Allahu Anhu aur Hazrat Umar Radi Allahu Anhu bhi the, lekin woh Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam se is baare mein poochhne se hichkichaye, aur ek shakhs jinhin Zuljadedain kaha jata tha, unhon ne kaha ki ya Rasul Allah! kya namaz mukhtasar kar di gayi hai ya aap bhool gaye hain? Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya «na to namaz mukhtasar ki gayi hai aur na hi main bhoola hun» unhon ne kaha ki balki aap bhool gaye hain ya Rasul Allah, aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya «kya aisa hi hai?» unhon ne kaha ji haan, to aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam wapas aaye aur hamare saath do rakaten parhin phir salam phira, phir do sajde kiye aur unhen apni sajdah ki tarah lamba kiya, phir sar uthaya, phir dusri sajdah ki aur use apni sajdah ki tarah lamba kiya, phir sar uthaya, ravi se kaha gaya ki phir salam phira? kehne lage main ne yeh baat Abu Huraira Radi Allahu Anhu se yaad nahin ki, aur mujhe batlaya gaya ki Hazrat Imran bin Husain Radi Allahu Anhu ne kaha ki phir aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne salam phira.
'Ikrimah narrated from Ibn Abbas: The Prophet ﷺ called the two prostrations of forgetfulness, “the two prostrations of protection."
حضرت عکرمہ نے حضرت ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت کی، نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے سجدہ سہو کو ”دو سجدے حفاظت“ کہا ہے۔
Hazrat Akarma ne Hazrat Ibn Abbas Radi Allaho Anhuma se riwayat ki, Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam ne Sajda Sahoo ko "do sajday hifazat" kaha hai.
