Muhammad ibn Sayfi' reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out to us on the day of 'Ashura and said, "Has any one of you eaten anything today?" Some of us replied that we had eaten, while others said that they had not. Thereupon he said, "Those of you who have not eaten anything today should observe fast, and those of you who have eaten something should complete the rest of the day fasting. And inform the people of the dwellings (in the outskirts of Medina) that they should complete the rest of their day fasting."
محمد بن سیفی رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم عاشورا کے دن ہمارے پاس تشریف لائے اور فرمایا ”تم میں سے کسی نے آج کچھ کھایا ہے؟“ ہم میں سے بعض نے کہا کہ ہم نے کھا لیا ہے اور بعض نے کہا کہ ہم نے نہیں کھایا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”جن لوگوں نے کچھ نہیں کھایا وہ آج روزہ رکھیں اور جن لوگوں نے کچھ کھا لیا ہے وہ دن کے باقی حصے کا روزہ پورا کریں اور (مدینہ کے) اطراف میں رہنے والے لوگوں کو بتا دو کہ وہ بھی اپنے دن کے باقی حصے کا روزہ پورا کریں“۔
Muhammad bin Sayfi Radi Allahu Anhu se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Ashura ke din humare pass tashreef laaye aur farmaya "Tum mein se kisi ne aaj kuch khaya hai?" Hum mein se baaz ne kaha ki hum ne kha liya hai aur baaz ne kaha ki hum ne nahi khaya to aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya "Jin logon ne kuch nahi khaya wo aaj roza rakhen aur jin logon ne kuch kha liya hai wo din ke baqi hisse ka roza pura karen aur (Madina ke) اطراف mein rehne wale logon ko bata do ki wo bhi apne din ke baqi hisse ka roza pura karen".
Asma' bint Harithah said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to my people saying, "Command your people to fast this day." I said, "What if I find them having already eaten?" He ﷺ said, "Then let them complete the fast for the rest of the day."
حضرت اسماء بنت حارثہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے مجھے میرے لوگوں کے پاس یہ کہتے ہوئے بھیجا کہ "اپنے لوگوں کو اس دن روزہ رکھنے کا حکم دو"۔ میں نے کہا،" اگر میں نے انہیں پہلے ہی کھا پی کر فارغ پایا تو؟" آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، "تو پھر وہ دن کے باقی حصے کا روزہ پورا کرلیں"۔
Hazrat Asma bint Haritha raziallahu anha kehti hain ki Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne mujhe mere logon ke pass yeh kehte huye bheja ki "apne logon ko iss din roza rakhne ka hukm do". Maine kaha, "agar maine unhen pehle hi kha pee kar farigh paya to?" Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya, "to phir woh din ke baqi hisse ka roza pura kar len".
Salamah ibn al-Akwa' reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, sent a man from the tribe of Aslam to announce: “Today is the day of ‘Ashura. Whoever has eaten something today should not eat for the rest of the day, and whoever has not yet eaten or drunk anything should fast.”
سلمہ بن الاکوع رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے قبیلہ بنی اسلم کے ایک شخص کو یہ اعلان کرنے کیلئے بھیجا: " آج عاشورہ کا دن ہے، جس نے آج کچھ کھا لیا ہے وہ دن کے بقیہ حصہ میں نہ کھائے اور جس نے ابھی تک کچھ نہیں کھایا ہے اور نہ ہی پیا ہے وہ روزہ رکھے۔"
Salma bin Al-Akwa radi Allahu anhu se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne qabila Bani Aslam ke aik shakhs ko ye elan karne ke liye bheja: "Aaj Ashura ka din hai, jis ne aaj kuch kha liya hai wo din ke baqiya hissa mein na khaye aur jis ne abhi tak kuch nahi khaya hai aur na hi piya hai wo roza rakhe."
Rubai' bint Mu'awwidh said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a messenger on the morning of 'Ashura' to the villages of the Ansar surrounding Medina (saying), "Whoever has started the day fasting should complete their fast, and whoever has started the day not fasting should fast the rest of the day." She said: So we used to fast it (that day) and would make our young children fast as well. We would take them to the masjid and make them toys out of wool. If any of them cried for food, we would give them (the toys) until it was time to break the fast.
ربیع بنت معوذ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے عاشورا کی صبح مدینہ کے اطراف میں انصار کے دیہات میں ایک قاصد بھیجا (یہ کہتے ہوئے) کہ "جس نے روزہ رکھ کر دن کا آغاز کیا ہے وہ اپنا روزہ مکمل کرے اور جس نے روزہ نہ رکھ کر دن کا آغاز کیا ہے وہ دن کے باقی حصے کا روزہ رکھے"۔ وہ کہتی ہیں کہ تو ہم اس دن روزہ رکھا کرتے تھے اور اپنے چھوٹے چھوٹے بچوں کو بھی روزہ رکھوایا کرتے تھے۔ ہم انہیں مسجد لے جاتے اور ان کے لیے اون سے کھلونے بناتے۔ اگر ان میں سے کوئی کھانے کے لیے روتا تو ہم انہیں (کھلونے) دے دیتیں یہاں تک کہ افطار کا وقت ہو جاتا۔
Rabia bint Muawwid raziallahu anha kehti hain ke Rasool Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne Ashura ki subah Madina ke اطراف mein Ansar ke dihat mein ek qasid bheja (ye kehte huye) ke "jis ne roza rakh kar din ka aghaz kiya hai wo apna roza mukammal kare aur jis ne roza na rakh kar din ka aghaz kiya hai wo din ke baqi hisse ka roza rakhe". Wo kehti hain ke to hum is din roza rakha karte the aur apne chhote chhote bachchon ko bhi roza rakhwaya karte the. Hum unhen masjid le jate aur un ke liye oon se khilone banate. Agar un mein se koi khane ke liye rota to hum unhen (khilone) de deti yehاں tak ke iftar ka waqt ho jata.
Aisha said: "The day of Ashura was a day that Quraysh used to fast in the Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic period). So when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to Medina, he fasted on it and ordered (the Muslims) to fast on it. But when Ramadan was prescribed, it became the obligatory fast, and the day of Ashura was left (optional), so whoever wished to fast it could do so, and whoever wished to leave it could do so."
عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ عاشورہ کا دن وہ دن تھا جس میں قریش جاہلیت میں روزہ رکھا کرتے تھے۔ پھر جب رسول اللہ ﷺ مدینہ تشریف لائے تو آپ ﷺ نے اس دن روزہ رکھا اور (صحابہ کرام کو) اس کا حکم دیا، پھر جب رمضان فرض کر دیا گیا تو یہ (روزہ) لازم ہو گیا اور عاشورہ کا روزہ چھوڑ دیا گیا، تو جو چاہے اسے رکھے اور جو چاہے اسے چھوڑ دے۔
Ayesha raza Allah tala anha kehti hain keh Ashura ka din wo din tha jis mein Quresh jahiliyat mein roza rakha karte thay, phir jab Rasool Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam Madina tashreef laye to aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne is din roza rakha aur (sahaba kiram ko) is ka hukm diya, phir jab Ramzan farz kar diya gaya to ye (roza) laazim ho gaya aur Ashura ka roza chhor diya gaya, to jo chahe ise rakhe aur jo chahe ise chhor de.
Narrated Ibn Umar: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding the fast of the day of Ashura after Ramadan was revealed, said, “Whoever wishes may fast it, and whoever wishes may leave it.”
حضرت ابن عمر رضی اللہ عنہما سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے رمضان کے فرض ہونے کے بعد عاشورا کے روزے کے بارے میں فرمایا: "جو چاہے اسے رکھے اور جو چاہے اسے چھوڑ دے۔"
Hazrat Ibn Umar Radi Allahu Anhuma se riwayat hai keh Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne Ramzan ke farz hone ke baad Ashura ke roze ke bare mein farmaya: "Jo chahe ise rakhe aur jo chahe ise chhor de."
Narrated Ibn Umar: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "The day of 'Ashura' [tenth of Muharram] was a day on which the people of Jahiliyyah (pre-Islamic period) used to fast. So, whoever among you likes to fast (on this day) may fast, and whoever dislikes it may leave it."
رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا عاشورا کا دن ایسا دن تھا جس میں جاہلیت والے روزہ رکھتے تھے تو تم میں سے جو چاہے اس دن روزہ رکھے اور جو نہ چاہے چھوڑ دے

Yazid Mawla Salama narrated from Salama bin Al-Akwa:
He said, "During the time of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, in Ramadan, whoever wished would fast and whoever wished would break the fast and pay Fidyah by feeding a poor person, until this verse was revealed: {So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it}"
یزید مولیٰ سلمہ نے سلمہ بن الاکوع سے روایت کی: انہوں نے کہا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے زمانے میں، رمضان میں، جو چاہتا تھا روزہ رکھتا تھا اور جو چاہتا تھا روزہ چھوڑ دیتا تھا اور ایک مسکین کو کھانا کھلاتا تھا یہاں تک کہ یہ آیت نازل ہوئی: {تو جو شخص اس مہینے (رمضان) کا چاند دیکھے تو اسے روزے رکھے}
Yazid Mola Salma ne Salma bin Akoa se riwayat ki: Unhon ne kaha ke Rasool Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ke zamane mein, Ramzan mein, jo chahta tha roza rakhta tha aur jo chahta tha roza chhor deta tha aur ek miskeen ko khana khilata tha yahan tak ke yeh ayat nazil hui: {To jo shakhs is mahine (Ramzan) ka chand dekhe to use roze rakhe}
Ibn Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) came to Medina and found the Jews fasting on the day of 'Ashura'. He asked them, "What is this?" They said, "It is a great day, on which Allah saved Musa and drowned the people of Fir'awn. So Musa fasted it in gratitude to Allah." The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "I am more entitled to Musa and have more right to fast on this day than you." So he fasted on that day and ordered (the Muslims) to fast on it.
ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم مدینہ تشریف لائے تو یہودیوں کو عاشورا کا روزہ رکھتے ہوئے پایا آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ان سے پوچھا یہ کیا ہے؟ انہوں نے کہا یہ عظمت والا دن ہے جس میں اللہ تعالیٰ نے موسیٰ علیہ السلام کو نجات دی اور فرعون اور اس کے لشکر کو غرق کردیا تھا تو موسیٰ علیہ السلام اللہ تعالیٰ کا شکر ادا کرنے کے لیے اس دن کا روزہ رکھتے تھے تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا تم سے زیادہ موسیٰ علیہ السلام کا حق دار اور اس دن روزہ رکھنے والا میں ہوں چنانچہ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس دن روزہ رکھا اور لوگوں کو اس کا حکم دیا۔
Ibn Abbas Raziallahu Anhuma kehte hain ki Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Madina tashreef laye to yahudiyon ko Ashura ka roza rakhte huye paya aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne unse poocha ye kya hai? Unhon ne kaha ye azmat wala din hai jis mein Allah Ta'ala ne Musa Alaihissalam ko nijaat di aur Firaun aur uske lashkar ko gharq kar diya tha to Musa Alaihissalam Allah Ta'ala ka shukar ada karne ke liye is din ka roza rakhte the to Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya tumse zyada Musa Alaihissalam ka haqdaar aur is din roza rakhne wala mein hun chunanche aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne is din roza rakha aur logon ko iska hukm diya.
Humaid ibn Abdur-Rahman narrated: Mu'awiyah delivered a sermon on the pulpit in Medina, a few days before the day of 'Ashura. He said, "O people of Medina! Where are your scholars? I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saying, 'This is the day of 'Ashura, and its fasting has not been made obligatory upon you. And I am fasting. So whoever among you likes, he may fast."
حمید بن عبدالرحمن رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ حضرت معاویہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے دسویں محرم سے چند دن پہلے مدینہ منورہ کے ممبر پر کھڑے ہو کر خطبہ دیا اور فرمایا اے اہل مدینہ کہاں ہیں تمہارے علماء میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے کہ یہ عاشورہ کا دن ہے اس کا روزہ تم پر فرض نہیں کیا گیا اور میں اس کا روزہ رکھتا ہوں لہذا تم میں سے جو چاہے وہ اس کا روزہ رکھے
Hameed bin Abdur Rahman Radi Allahu Anhu se riwayat hai ki Hazrat Muawiya Radi Allahu Anhu ne daswen Muharram se chand din pehle Madina Munawwara ke mimbar par kharay ho kar khutba diya aur farmaya aye ahl e Madina kahan hain tumhare ulama maine Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ko ye farmate huye suna hai ki ye Ashura ka din hai is ka roza tum par farz nahi kiya gaya aur main is ka roza rakhta hun lihaza tum mein se jo chahe wo is ka roza rakhe
Narrated Abu Musa: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The Jews used to observe the day of 'Ashura' (tenth of Muharram) as a day of celebration, so Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) ordered (Muslims) to fast on it."
حضرت ابو موسیٰ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، "یہودی، عاشورہ (محرم کی دسویں تاریخ) کا دن بطور تہوار مناتے تھے، تو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اس دن (مسلمانوں کو) روزہ رکھنے کا حکم دیا۔"
Hazrat Abu Musa Radi Allahu Anhu se riwayat hai ki Nabi Kareem Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya, "Yahudi, Ashura (Muharram ki dasween tareekh) ka din ba tor tehwar manate thay, to Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne is din (Musalmanon ko) roza rakhne ka hukum diya."
Aisha, the mother of the believers, said: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, entered upon me one day and said, “Do you have anything (to eat)?” I said, “No.” He said, “Then I am fasting.” She said, “Then he came to us another day and I said, ‘O Messenger of Allah, we were gifted some hays (sweet dish) so we saved it for you.’” He said, “Bring it.” And he was fasting then he broke his fast.
ام المومنین عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ ایک دن نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم میرے پاس آئے اور پوچھا کہ ”کیا تمہارے پاس کچھ کھانے کیلئے ہے؟“ میں نے کہا کہ ”نہیں“ تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ ”پھر میں روزے سے ہوں“۔ پھر آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایک اور دن ہمارے پاس آئے تو میں نے کہا کہ ”یا رسول اللہ ہمیں ہریسہ (ایک میٹھا پکوان) تحفہ میں ملا تھا سو ہم نے وہ آپ کیلئے رکھ لیا تھا“ تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا کہ ”لاؤ“۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم روزے سے تھے تو آپ نے روزہ کھول لیا۔
Umm ul Momineen Ayesha Radi Allaho Anha kehti hain ke aik din Nabi Kareem Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam mere paas aaye aur poocha ke "kia tumhare paas kuch khane ke liye hai" maine kaha ke "nahi" tou aap Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne farmaya ke "phir main rozy se hon". Phir aap Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam aik aur din humare paas aaye tou maine kaha ke "Ya Rasul Allah humein Hareesa (aik meetha pakwan) tohfa mein mila tha so humne wo aap ke liye rakh liya tha" tou aap Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam ne farmaya ke "lao". Aap Sallallaho Alaihe Wasallam rozy se thay tou aap ne roza khol liya.
Aishah reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, liked to eat sweet food. He came to us one day and said, "Do you have any of that?" I said, "No." He said, "Then I am fasting."
آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو میٹھی چیز پسند تھی، ایک دن ہمارے ہاں تشریف لائے اور فرمایا تمہارے ہاں وہ ہے؟ میں نے عرض کیا نہیں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا میں روزے سے ہوں۔
Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ko meethi cheez pasand thi, aik din humare han tashreef laye aur farmaya tumhare han wo hai? Maine arz kia nahi, aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya main rozey se hun.
Aisha, the Mother of the Believers, said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would sometimes enter upon us and say, 'Do you have anything (to eat)?' We would say, 'No.' He would then say, 'Then I am fasting.'" She said, "One day he entered upon us and said, 'Do you have anything?' I said, 'Yes, we have some Hais (a dish made from dates, butter, and cheese) that was gifted to us.' He ﷺ said, 'I had made the intention to fast, and I am fasting,' but then he called for it and ate."
حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کبھی ہمارے پاس تشریف لاتے اور فرماتے، ”تمہارے پاس کچھ ہے (کھانے کو)؟“ ہم کہتیں، ”نہیں۔“ تو آپ ﷺ فرماتے، ”تو میں روزے سے ہوں۔“ حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ ”ایک دن آپ ﷺ ہمارے پاس تشریف لائے اور فرمایا ”تمہارے پاس کچھ ہے؟“ میں نے کہا، ”ہاں، ہمارے پاس تھوڑا سا حَیس (کھجور، مکھن اور پنیر سے بنی ہوئی ایک ڈش) ہے جو ہمیں تحفے میں ملا ہے۔“ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا، ”میں نے روزہ رکھنے کی نیت کی تھی اور میں روزے سے ہوں۔“ لیکن پھر آپ ﷺ نے اسے منگوایا اور کھا لیا۔
Hazrat Ayesha Radi Allah Anha kahti hain keh Rasul Allah SAW kabhi humare pass tashreef laate aur farmate, “Tumhare pass kuch hai (khane ko)?” Hum kahti, “Nahin.” To aap SAW farmate, “To main rozey se hun.” Hazrat Ayesha Radi Allah Anha kahti hain keh “Ek din aap SAW humare pass tashreef laaye aur farmaya “Tumhare pass kuch hai?” Maine kaha, “Han, humare pass thora sa hais (khajoor, makkhan aur paneer se bani hui ek dish) hai jo hume tohfe mein mila hai.” Aap SAW ne farmaya, “Maine roza rakhne ki niyat ki thi aur main rozey se hun.” Lekin phir aap SAW ne use mangwaya aur kha liya.
Qatadah narrated to us from 'Ubaydullah Ibn Ma'bad, from Abu Qatadah that a man asked the Prophet (ﷺ) "O Messenger of Allah! What about a man who fasts on the Day of 'Ashura?" He said, "That is a fast of a year." He said, "What about a man who fasts on the Day of 'Arafah?" He said, "It expiates for the year before it and the year after it."
قتادہ نے ہمیں عبید اللہ بن معبد سے ، ابو قتادہ سے روایت کی کہ ایک شخص نے نبی کریم ﷺ سے پوچھا " اللہ کے رسول! وہ شخص کیسا ہے جو عاشورہ کے دن روزہ رکھے؟" آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا " وہ ایک سال کے روزوں کا کفارہ ہے۔" اس نے کہا " وہ شخص کیسا ہے جو عرفہ کے دن روزہ رکھے ؟" آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا " وہ اپنے سے پہلے کے اور اپنے بعد کے سال کے گناہوں کا کفارہ ہے۔"
Qatadah ne humain Ubaidullah bin Mabud se, Abu Qatadah se riwayat ki ke ek shakhs ne Nabi Kareem sallallahu alaihi wasallam se poocha "Allah ke Rasool! Woh shakhs kaisa hai jo Ashura ke din roza rakhe?" Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya "Woh ek saal ke rozon ka kaffarah hai." Usne kaha "Woh shakhs kaisa hai jo Arafah ke din roza rakhe?" Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya "Woh apne se pehle ke aur apne baad ke saal ke gunahon ka kaffarah hai."
Abu Qatada narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Fasting on the day of Arafah, I hope from Allah, will expiate for the sins of the year before it and the year after it, and fasting on the Day of Ashura, I hope from Allah, will expiate for the sins of the year before it.”
ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”میں اللہ تعالیٰ سے امید کرتا ہوں کہ عید الاضحیٰ سے ایک دن پہلے یعنی عرفہ کے دن کا روزہ، پچھلے اور آئندہ سال کے گناہوں کا کفارہ بن جائے گا اور یوم عاشورہ کا روزہ، میں اللہ تعالیٰ سے امید کرتا ہوں کہ پچھلے سال کے گناہوں کا کفارہ بن جائے گا۔“
Abu Qatada Radi Allahu Anhu bayan karte hain ke Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: “Main Allah Ta'ala se umeed karta hun ke Eid-ul-Adha se ek din pehle yani Arafah ke din ka roza, pichle aur aayinda saal ke gunahon ka kaffara ban jayega aur Youm-e-Ashura ka roza, main Allah Ta'ala se umeed karta hun ke pichle saal ke gunahon ka kaffara ban jayega.”
Al-Hakam ibn al-A'raj said:
I went to Ibn Abbas while he was reclining on his cloak near the Zamzam well. I sat with him – and what an excellent companion he was! I asked him about Ashura. He sat up and said, "Which aspect of it are you asking about?" I said, "About its fasting; on what day should we fast?" He said, "When you see the new moon of Muharram, count the days, then fast on the ninth day." I said, "Was this how the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast?" He said, "Yes."
الحکم بن عرج نے کہا کہ میں ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس حاضر ہوا جبکہ وہ زمزم کے پاس اپنی چادر اوڑھے لیٹے ہوئے تھے۔ میں ان کے پاس بیٹھا اور وہ کیا ہی اچھے ساتھی تھے! میں نے ان سے عاشورا کے بارے میں پوچھا۔ وہ اٹھ کر بیٹھ گئے اور کہا: "تم اس کے کس پہلو کے بارے میں پوچھ رہے ہو؟" میں نے کہا کہ اس کے روزے کے بارے میں کہ ہم کون سے دن روزہ رکھیں؟" انہوں نے کہا: "جب تم محرم کا چاند دیکھو تو دن گنو، پھر نویں دن روزہ رکھو۔" میں نے کہا: "کیا نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ایسا ہی روزہ رکھا کرتے تھے؟" انہوں نے کہا: "جی ہاں۔"
Alhukm bin Arj ne kaha ki main Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhu ke pass hazir hua jabkeh woh Zamzam ke pass apni chadar odhe lete huye thay. Main unke pass baitha aur woh kya hi achhe sathi thay! Main ne unse Ashura ke bare mein poocha. Woh uth kar baith gaye aur kaha: "Tum is ke kis pehlu ke bare mein pooch rahe ho?" Main ne kaha ki is ke roze ke bare mein ke hum kon se din roza rakhen?" Unhon ne kaha: "Jab tum Muharram ka chand dekho to din gino, phir nauwein din roza rakho." Main ne kaha: "Kya Nabi Kareem sallallahu alaihi wasallam aisa hi roza rakha karte thay?" Unhon ne kaha: "Ji haan."
Abu Ayyub al-Ansari reported that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days from Shawwal, it will be as if he fasted the entire year."
حضرت ابو ایوب انصاری رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا، "جو شخص رمضان کے روزے رکھے اور پھر اس کے بعد شوال کے چھ روزے (بھی) رکھے تو وہ ایسا ہے جیسے اس نے سال بھر روزے رکھے۔"
Hazrat Abu Ayyub Ansari Radi Allahu Anhu se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya, "Jo shakhs Ramzan ke roze rakhe aur phir uske baad Shawwal ke chhe roze (bhi) rakhe to woh aisa hai jaise usne saal bhar roze rakhe."
Yahya related to us, from Abu Ismaa’ ar-Rahabi, from Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah, from the Messenger of Allah, who said: “Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days of Shawwaal will have (the reward of) fasting the entire year."
یحییٰ نے ہمیں ابو اسماعیل راہبی سے روایت کی، انہوں نے ثوبان سے، جو رسول اللہ کے آزاد کردہ غلام تھے، انہوں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ سے روایت کی، آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: ”جو شخص رمضان کے روزے رکھے اور پھر اس کے بعد شوال کے چھ روزے رکھے تو وہ سونا ایسے ہو گا جیسے اس نے سارا سال روزے رکھے ہوں۔“
Yahiya ne humein Abu Ismail Rahi se riwayat ki, unhon ne Sauban se, jo Rasul Allah ke azad kardah ghulam the, unhon ne Rasul Allah ﷺ se riwayat ki, Aap ﷺ ne farmaya: ”Jo shakhs Ramzan ke roze rakhe aur phir uske baad Shawwal ke chhe roze rakhe to woh sona aise ho ga jaise usne sara saal roze rakhe hon."
Abu Huraira reported that the Messenger of Allah, may the blessings and peace of Allah be upon him, said: “The best fasting after the month of Ramadan is the month of Allah, Muharram, and the best prayer after the obligatory prayer is the night prayer.”
حضرت ابوہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا ”رمضان کے بعد سب سے افضل روزہ اللہ کے مہینے یعنی محرم کے روزے ہیں اور فرض نماز کے بعد سب سے افضل نماز رات کی نماز ہے۔“
Hazrat Abu Hurairah razi Allah anhu se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya "Ramzan ke bad sab se afzal roza Allah ke mahine yani Muharram ke roze hain aur farz namaz ke bad sab se afzal namaz raat ki namaz hai"
Aishah said: "The Prophet ﷺ would fast until we thought he would never break his fast, and he would break his fast until we thought he would never fast. And I never saw him fast more than in Sha'ban. He would fast all of Sha'ban, except for a little."
حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم روزہ رکھتے تو ہم سمجھتے کہ اب کبھی افطار نہ کریں گے اور افطار کرتے تو ہم سمجھتے کہ اب کبھی روزہ نہ رکھیں گے۔ اور میں نے آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو شعبان سے زیادہ کسی مہینے میں روزے دار نہیں دیکھا۔ آپ شعبان کے پورے مہینے روزے رکھتے، مگر تھوڑے دن چھوڑ دیتے۔
Hazrat Ayesha raza Allah tala anha kehti hain ke Nabi Kareem sallallahu alaihi wasallam roza rakhte to hum samajhte ke ab kabhi iftar na karenge aur iftar karte to hum samajhte ke ab kabhi roza na rakhenge. Aur maine aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ko Shaban se ziada kisi mahine mein rozedar nahin dekha. Aap Shaban ke poore mahine roza rakhte, magar thore din chhor dete.
Saeed bin Mina' said: I heard Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-'As saying: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Abdullah bin Amr! I have been informed that you fast all day and stand in prayer all night. Do not do that. For your body has a right over you, and your soul has a right over you. Fast three days a month. That is the fasting of every month." He said: I said, "O Messenger of Allah! I find strength to do more." He ﷺ said: "Fast like the fasting of David, peace be upon him: Fast a day and do not fast a day." He said: And Abdullah bin Amr used to say, "I wish that I had accepted the concession."
سعید بن منا رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ میں نے عبداللہ بن عمرو بن العاص رضی اللہ عنہما کو کہتے ہوئے سنا: رسول اللہ ﷺ نے فرمایا، "اے عبداللہ بن عمرو! مجھے بتایا گیا ہے کہ تم دن بھر روزے رکھتے ہو اور ساری رات نماز میں کھڑے رہتے ہو۔ ایسا نہ کرو۔ کیونکہ تمہارے جسم کا تم پر حق ہے اور تمہاری روح کا تم پر حق ہے۔ مہینے میں تین دن روزے رکھو۔ یہ ہر مہینے کا روزہ ہے۔" انہوں نے کہا کہ میں نے کہا: "اللہ کے رسول! مجھے زیادہ کرنے کی طاقت ہے۔" آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: "داؤد علیہ السلام کے روزے کی طرح روزہ رکھو: ایک دن روزہ رکھو اور ایک دن نہ رکھو۔" انہوں نے کہا: اور عبداللہ بن عمرو کہا کرتے تھے کہ "کاش میں نے اس رخصت کو قبول کر لیا ہوتا۔"
Saeed bin Muna Radi Allahu Anhu se riwayat hai ki maine Abdullah bin Amr bin al-Aas Radi Allahu Anhuma ko kehte huye suna: Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya, "Aye Abdullah bin Amr! Mujhe bataya gaya hai ki tum din bhar rozey rakhte ho aur sari raat namaz mein khade rehte ho. Aisa na karo. Kyunki tumhare jism ka tum par haq hai aur tumhari rooh ka tum par haq hai. Mahine mein teen din rozey rakho. Yeh har mahine ka roza hai." Unhon ne kaha ki maine kaha: "Allah ke Rasul! Mujhe zyada karne ki taqat hai." Aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: "Dawud Alaihissalam ke rozey ki tarah roza rakho: Ek din roza rakho aur ek din na rakho." Unhon ne kaha: Aur Abdullah bin Amr kaha karte thay ki "Kash maine is rukhsat ko qubool kar liya hota."
Abu Qatada narrated that a man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, “O Messenger of Allah! How should I fast?” The Prophet ﷺ became angry. When ‘Umar saw this, he said, “We are pleased with Allah as our Lord, Islam as our religion and Muhammad ﷺ as our Prophet. We seek refuge with Allah from the Anger of Allah and the anger of His Messenger." He repeated this until the anger of the Prophet ﷺ subsided. Then the man said, “O Messenger of Allah, what about one who fasts two days and breaks the fast for a day?” He ﷺ replied, “Can anyone endure that?” He then said, “What about one who fasts a day and breaks the fast for a day?” He ﷺ said, “That is the fasting of my brother Dawud.” He then said, “What about one who fasts a day and breaks the fast for two days?” He ﷺ said, “I wish I was given the strength to do that.”
ابو قتادہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ ایک آدمی نبی ﷺ کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور عرض کی: اللہ کے رسول! میں کیسے روزے رکھوں؟ آپ ﷺ غصے ہوگئے۔ جب حضرت عمر رضی اللہ عنہ نے یہ دیکھا تو کہا: ہم اللہ تعالیٰ کو اپنا رب، اسلام کو اپنا دین اور محمد ﷺ کو اپنا نبی مان کر راضی ہیں۔ ہم اللہ کی ناراضگی اور اس کے رسول کی ناراضگی سے اللہ کی پناہ مانگتے ہیں۔" آپ رضی اللہ عنہ یہ کہتے رہے یہاں تک کہ نبی ﷺ کا غصہ کم ہوگیا۔ پھر اس آدمی نے کہا: اللہ کے رسول! وہ شخص کیسا ہے جو دو دن روزہ رکھے اور ایک دن روزہ نہ رکھے؟ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: کیا کوئی اسے برداشت کر سکتا ہے؟ پھر اس نے کہا: وہ شخص کیسا ہے جو ایک دن روزہ رکھے اور ایک دن روزہ نہ رکھے؟ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: یہ میرے بھائی داؤد علیہ السلام کا روزہ ہے۔ پھر اس نے کہا: وہ شخص کیسا ہے جو ایک دن روزہ رکھے اور دو دن روزہ نہ رکھے؟ آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: کاش! مجھے بھی اس کی طاقت ہوتی۔
Abu Qatada Radi Allahu Anhu se riwayat hai ki ek aadmi Nabi ﷺ ki khidmat mein hazir hua aur arz ki: Allah ke Rasul! mein kaise roze rakhoon? Aap ﷺ gusse hogaye. Jab Hazrat Umar Radi Allahu Anhu ne ye dekha to kaha: Hum Allah Ta'ala ko apna Rab, Islam ko apna deen aur Muhammad ﷺ ko apna Nabi maan kar raazi hain. Hum Allah ki naraazgi aur uske Rasul ki naraazgi se Allah ki panaah maangte hain." Aap Radi Allahu Anhu ye kehte rahe yahan tak ki Nabi ﷺ ka gussa kam hogaya. Phir us aadmi ne kaha: Allah ke Rasul! woh shakhs kaisa hai jo do din roze rakhe aur ek din roze na rakhe? Aap ﷺ ne farmaya: kya koi ise bardasht kar sakta hai? Phir usne kaha: woh shakhs kaisa hai jo ek din roze rakhe aur ek din roze na rakhe? Aap ﷺ ne farmaya: ye mere bhai Dawud Alaihissalam ka roza hai. Phir usne kaha: woh shakhs kaisa hai jo ek din roze rakhe aur do din roze na rakhe? Aap ﷺ ne farmaya: kash! mujhe bhi iski taqat hoti.
Abu Al-Malih said: I entered upon `Abdullah bin `Amr...He narrated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) mentioned his fasting so I entered upon him and I placed a cushion stuffed with palm fibers for him. He sat on the ground and the cushion was between me and him. He said: "Is it not sufficient for you to fast three days from each month?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah!" He said: "Five." I said: "O Messenger of Allah!" He said: "Seven." I said: "O Messenger of Allah!" He said: "Nine." I said: "O Messenger of Allah!" He said: "Ten." I said: "O Messenger of Allah!" He said: "There is no fast better than the fast of David, half of the year: fasting a day and breaking the fast a day."
ابو الملیح نے کہا : میں عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی اللہ عنہ کے پاس گیا۔۔۔ انہوں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے روزوں کا ذکر کیا تو میں ان کے پاس پہنچا اور میں نے ان کے لیے کھجور کے ریشوں سے بھرا ہوا ایک تکیہ رکھا۔ وہ زمین پر بیٹھ گئے اور تکیہ میرے اور ان کے درمیان تھا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”کیا تمہارے لیے یہ کافی نہیں کہ تم ہر مہینے میں تین دن روزے رکھو؟“ میں نے کہا: ”اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم!“ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”پانچ۔“ میں نے کہا: ”اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم!“ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”سات۔“ میں نے کہا: ”اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم!“ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”نو۔“ میں نے کہا: ”اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم!“ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”دس۔“ میں نے کہا: ”اے اللہ کے رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم!“ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”داؤد علیہ السلام کے روزوں سے بہتر کوئی روزہ نہیں، سال کا آدھا: ایک دن روزہ رکھنا اور ایک دن روزہ نہ رکھنا۔“
Abu al-Malih ne kaha : mein Abdullah bin Amro razi Allah anhu ke pas gaya... unhon ne Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ke rozon ka zikr kiya to mein un ke pas pahuncha aur mein ne un ke liye khajoor ke reshon se bhara hua ek takiya rakha. Wo zameen par baith gaye aur takiya mere aur un ke darmiyan tha. Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: ”Kya tumhare liye ye kafi nahin ki tum har mahine mein teen din roze rakho?“ mein ne kaha: ”Aye Allah ke Rasul sallallahu alaihi wasallam!“ Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: ”Panch.“ mein ne kaha: ”Aye Allah ke Rasul sallallahu alaihi wasallam!“ Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: ”Saat.“ mein ne kaha: ”Aye Allah ke Rasul sallallahu alaihi wasallam!“ Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: ”Nau.“ mein ne kaha: ”Aye Allah ke Rasul sallallahu alaihi wasallam!“ Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: ”Das.“ mein ne kaha: ”Aye Allah ke Rasul sallallahu alaihi wasallam!“ Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: ”Dawood alaihissalam ke rozon se behtar koi roza nahin, saal ka aadha: ek din roza rakhna aur ek din roza na rakhna.“
Narrated Qatadah: An Arab asked the Prophet (ﷺ) about fasting throughout the year. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “He neither fasts nor breaks his fast." (Or he said, “He neither breaks his fast nor fasts.") Another man stood up and asked, “O Messenger of Allah, do you consider (the case of) a man who fasts three days every month?” The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “That is fasting throughout the year.” He asked, "Do you consider (the case of) a man who fasts (every) Monday?” He said, “That is (the day) on which I was born and on which the Revelation was sent down to me.” He said, “Do you consider (the case of) a man who fasts one day and breaks his fast on the other?” He said, “That is the fast of my brother Dawud (David).”
قطادہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے مروی ہے کہ ایک دیہاتی نے نبی ﷺ سے سارا سال روزہ رکھنے کے بارے میں پوچھا تو آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: "نہ وہ روزہ دار ہے اور نہ ہی وہ روزہ چھوڑنے والا"۔ (یا آپ نے فرمایا: "نہ وہ روزہ چھوڑتا ہے اور نہ ہی وہ روزہ دار ہے")۔ پھر ایک اور شخص کھڑا ہوا اور پوچھا: "اللہ کے رسول ﷺ! آپ اس شخص کے بارے میں کیا فرماتے ہیں جو ہر مہینے میں تین دن روزہ رکھتا ہے؟" آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: "یہ سارا سال روزہ رکھنے کے مترادف ہے"۔ اس نے پوچھا: "آپ اس شخص کے بارے میں کیا فرماتے ہیں جو ہر سوموار کو روزہ رکھتا ہے؟" آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: "یہ وہ دن ہے جس میں میری ولادت ہوئی اور جس میں مجھ پر وحی نازل ہونا شروع ہوئی"۔ اس نے پوچھا: "آپ اس شخص کے بارے میں کیا فرماتے ہیں جو ایک دن روزہ رکھتا ہے اور ایک دن افطار کرتا ہے؟" آپ ﷺ نے فرمایا: "یہ میرے بھائی داؤد علیہ السلام کا روزہ ہے"۔
Qatadah Radi Allahu Anhu se marvi hai ki ek dehati ne Nabi ﷺ se sara saal roza rakhne ke bare mein pucha to aap ﷺ ne farmaya: "Na woh rozedar hai aur na hi woh roza chhorne wala". (Ya aap ne farmaya: "Na woh roza chhorta hai aur na hi woh rozedar hai"). Phir ek aur shakhs khara hua aur pucha: "Allah ke Rasool ﷺ! Aap is shakhs ke bare mein kya farmate hain jo har mahine mein teen din roza rakhta hai?" Aap ﷺ ne farmaya: "Yeh sara saal roza rakhne ke mutradif hai". Usne pucha: "Aap is shakhs ke bare mein kya farmate hain jo har Somwar ko roza rakhta hai?" Aap ﷺ ne farmaya: "Yeh woh din hai jis mein meri wiladat hui aur jis mein mujh par wahi nazil hona shuru hui". Usne pucha: "Aap is shakhs ke bare mein kya farmate hain jo ek din roza rakhta hai aur ek din iftar karta hai?" Aap ﷺ ne farmaya: "Yeh mere bhai Dawood Alaihissalam ka roza hai".
'Aishah said: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast all of Sha’ban until it joined with Ramadan, and he used to strive to fast on Mondays and Thursdays.”
عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم شعبان کے پورے مہینے روزے رکھتے یہاں تک کہ شعبان رمضان سے جا ملتا اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم سوموار اور جمعرات کے روزے رکھنے کی کوشش فرماتے۔
Ayesha Radi Allahu Anha kahti hain ki Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Shaban ke pure mahine roze rakhte yahan tak ki Shaban Ramadan se ja milta aur aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam Somwar aur Jumaarat ke roze rakhne ki koshish farmate.
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, "The gates of Paradise are opened on Mondays and Thursdays…”
حضرت ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جنت کے دروازے پیر اور جمعرات کو کھولے جاتے ہیں…“
Hazrat Abu Huraira Radi Allahu Anhu se riwayat hai keh Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne farmaya: ”Jannat ke darwaze peer aur jummeraat ko kholay jatay hain…“
Abu Hamza reported on the authority of ‘Asim on the authority of Zirr on the authority of Ibn Mas’ud who said:
"The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast three days of every month and rarely would he break his fast on a Friday.”
ابن مسعودؓ بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ ہر مہینے میں تین دن روزہ رکھا کرتے تھے اور آپ جمعہ کے دن روزہ کم ہی چھوڑتے تھے۔
Ibn Masood bayan karte hain ke Rasool Allah har mahinay mein teen din roza rakha karte thay aur aap Juma ke din roza kam hi chhortay thay.
Kharija bin Abi Talib narrated from his father that: The son of Abbas sent me and a group of the companions of the Prophet (ﷺ) to Umm Salama, the wife of the Prophet (ﷺ), to ask her which days the Prophet (ﷺ) used to fast the most. She said: "Saturday and Sunday." So I came to them and informed them, but they denied that from me. They thought that I did not memorize (it), so they sent me back. She (i.e., Umm Salama) said the same. So I informed them, and they all stood up and said: "We sent you regarding such-and-such, and you claimed that she said such-and-such." She said: "He is right. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to fast on Saturday and Sunday the most out of all the days, and he would say: 'They are two days of Eid (festival) for the polytheists, and I love to differ from them.'"
خریجہ بن ابی طالب اپنے والد سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ ابن عباس رضی اللہ عنہ نے مجھے اور نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے کچھ صحابہ کرام کو نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی زوجہ ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا کے پاس بھیجا کہ وہ آپ سے پوچھیں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کون سے دن زیادہ روزے رکھا کرتے تھے۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ ہفتہ اور اتوار۔ تو میں ان کے پاس آیا اور انہیں بتلایا تو انہوں نے مجھ سے اس کا انکار کیا، انہیں لگا کہ میں نے یاد نہیں رکھا ہوگا تو انہوں نے مجھے واپس بھیج دیا۔ انہوں نے (یعنی ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا) نے وہی کہا۔ تو میں نے انہیں بتایا تو وہ سب کھڑے ہوگئے اور کہنے لگے ہم نے تمہیں فلاں فلاں بارے میں بھیجا تھا اور تم یہ دعویٰ کر رہے ہو کہ انہوں نے فلاں فلاں کہا ہے۔ ام سلمہ رضی اللہ عنہا نے فرمایا، یہ سچ کہہ رہا ہے۔ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہفتہ اور اتوار کے دن سب دنوں سے زیادہ روزے رکھا کرتے تھے اور فرماتے تھے: یہ دونوں دن مشرکین کے لیے عید (تہوار) کے دن ہیں اور میں ان سے اختلاف کرنا پسند کرتا ہوں۔
Kharija bin Abi Talib apne walid se riwayat karte hain ki Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhu ne mujhe aur Nabi Kareem sallallahu alaihi wasallam ke kuchh sahaba kiraam ko Nabi Kareem sallallahu alaihi wasallam ki zauja Umm Salma radi Allahu anha ke paas bheja ki woh aap se poochhen ki Nabi Kareem sallallahu alaihi wasallam kon se din zyada rozey rakha karte thay. Unhon ne kaha ki hafta aur itwar. Tou main unke paas aaya aur unhen batlaya tou unhon ne mujh se iska inkaar kiya, unhen laga ki maine yaad nahin rakha hoga tou unhon ne mujhe wapas bhej diya. Unhon ne (yani Umm Salma radi Allahu anha) ne wohi kaha. Tou maine unhen bataya tou woh sab kharay hogaye aur kahne lage hum ne tumhen falan falan baare mein bheja tha aur tum yeh daawa kar rahe ho ki unhon ne falan falan kaha hai. Umm Salma radi Allahu anha ne farmaya, yeh sach kah raha hai. Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam hafta aur itwar ke din sab dinon se zyada rozey rakha karte thay aur farmate thay: Yeh donon din mushrikeen ke liye eid (tehwaar) ke din hain aur main un se ikhtilaf karna pasand karta hun.
'Aishah, Mother of the Believers, was asked, "What was the Messenger of Allah's ﷺ practice? Did he single out any day in particular?" She said, "No, his deeds were consistent. And which of you could do what the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was able to do?"
حضرت عائشہ صدیقہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے پوچھا گیا کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کا معمول کیا تھا؟ کیا آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کسی خاص دن کو مخصوص کرتے تھے؟ فرمایا: نہیں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے عمل مسلسل تھے۔ اور تم میں سے کون ہے جو وہ کر سکے جو رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کیا کرتے تھے؟
Hazrat Ayesha Siddiqa Radi Allahu Anha se poocha gaya ke Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ka mamol kya tha? kya aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam kisi khas din ko makhsus karte thay? Farmaya: nahi, aap Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ke amal mustaqil thay. aur tum mein se kaun hai jo woh kar sake jo Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam karte thay?
Aisha said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would fast until we thought he would never break his fast, and he would break his fast until we thought he would never fast. And I never saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fast for a complete month except Ramadan, and I never saw him fast more than he did in Sha'ban."
عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ ﷺ کبھی اتنا روزہ رکھتے کہ ہمیں یہی گمان ہوتا کہ اب آپ روزہ افطار نہیں کریں گے اور کبھی اتنا کھانا کھاتے کہ ہمیں یہی گمان ہوتا کہ اب آپ روزہ نہیں رکھیں گے۔ اور میں نے رسول اللہ ﷺ کو رمضان کے علاوہ کبھی پورے مہینے روزہ رکھتے ہوئے نہیں دیکھا اور نہ ہی شعبان سے زیادہ کسی مہینے میں روزے رکھتے ہوئے دیکھا۔
Ayesha RaziyAllahu Anha kehti hain keh Rasool Allah kabhi itna roza rakhte keh humein yahi guman hota keh ab aap roza iftar nahin karenge aur kabhi itna khana khate keh humein yahi guman hota keh ab aap roza nahin rakhenge. Aur maine Rasool Allah ko Ramazan ke ilawa kabhi pure mahine roza rakhte huye nahin dekha aur na hi Shaban se zyada kisi mahine mein rozy rakhte huye dekha.
Muțarrif ibn ‘Amir ibn Sa‘sa‘ah said: Uthman ibn ‘Affan called for milk to give me a drink, but I said, “I am fasting.” Uthman said, “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say, ‘Fasting is a shield, like the shield of one of you in battle.’” And I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say, “Fasting three days of every month is a good fast.”
مطرف بن عامر بن ساعدة نے کہا: حضرت عثمان بن عفان رضی اللہ عنہ نے میرے لیے دودھ منگوایا تاکہ مجھے پلائیں، میں نے کہا: میں روزے سے ہوں۔ حضرت عثمان رضی اللہ عنہ نے کہا: میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے: ”روزہ ڈھال ہے جیسے تم میں سے کسی کی جنگ میں ڈھال ہوتی ہے۔“ اور میں نے رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو یہ فرماتے ہوئے سنا ہے: ”ہر مہینے میں تین دن روزہ رکھنا بہترین روزہ ہے۔“
Mutraf bin Aamir bin Saada ne kaha: Hazrat Usman bin Affan radi Allahu anhu ne mere liye doodh mangoaya takah mujhe pilayen, maine kaha: mein rozey se hun. Hazrat Usman radi Allahu anhu ne kaha: maine Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ko ye farmate huye suna hai: ”Roza dhaal hai jaise tum mein se kisi ki jang mein dhaal hoti hai.“ aur maine Rasulullah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ko ye farmate huye suna hai: ”Har mahine mein teen din roza rakhna behtarin roza hai.“
Abu Huraira reported:
A Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, with a hare that he had roasted. He came along with the hare's blood and placed it before the Prophet. The Messenger of Allah took it but did not eat. He commanded his companions to eat, but the Bedouin refrained. The Messenger of Allah said, "What is preventing you from eating?" The Bedouin said, "I am fasting three days out of the month." The Prophet said, "If you are fasting, then fast the Days of the White."
ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کیا کہ ایک اعرابی نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں ایک بریانی شدہ خرگوش لے کر حاضر ہوا، وہ خرگوش کے خون کے ساتھ آیا اور آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے سامنے رکھ دیا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے وہ لے تو لیا لیکن تناول نہ فرمایا، اور صحابہ کو حکم دیا کہ کھاؤ، لیکن وہ اعرابی نہ کھاتا تھا، رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "تمہیں کھانے سے کیا چیز روک رہی ہے؟" اس نے کہا: میں مہینے میں تین دن روزے رکھتا ہوں، آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: "اگر تم روزے ہی رکھتے ہو تو ایام بیض کے روزے رکھو"۔
Abu Hurairah razi Allah anhu ne bayan kya ke ek arabi Nabi Kareem sallallahu alaihi wasallam ki khidmat mein ek biryani shuda khargosh le kar hazir hua, woh khargosh ke khoon ke sath aaya aur aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ke samne rakh diya, Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne woh le to liya lekin tanawul na farmaya, aur sahaba ko hukum diya ke khao, lekin woh arabi na khata tha, Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: "Tumhein khane se kya cheez rok rahi hai?" usne kaha: mein mahine mein teen din roze rakhta hun, aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: "Agar tum roze hi rakhte ho to ayyam-e-beez ke roze rakho".
Anas bin Sirin narrated from his father: The Prophet ﷺ used to order his companions to fast the days of al-bidh (13th, 14th, 15th) and he ﷺ would say, "It is like fasting the whole year."
انس بن سیرین اپنے والد سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم ﷺ اپنے صحابہ کرام کو ایام البیض (۱۳، ۱۴، ۱۵) کے روزے رکھنے کا حکم دیتے تھے اور آپ ﷺ فرماتے تھے کہ "یہ پورے سال کے روزے رکھنے کے برابر ہے۔"
Anas bin Sireen apne walid se riwayat karte hain ke Nabi Kareem apne sahaba kiram ko ayyamul bid (13, 14, 15) ke roze rakhne ka hukm dete thay aur aap faramate thay ke "Yeh poore saal ke roze rakhne ke barabar hai."
Mu'awiya ibn Qurra al-Muzani reported from his father that the Prophet ﷺ wiped over his head and said, "Fasting three days from every month is [like] fasting the entire year, and breaking the fast [on the other days]."
معاویہ بن قُرہ المزنی اپنے والد سے روایت کرتے ہیں کہ نبی صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے اپنے سر پر مسح کیا اور فرمایا، "ہر مہینے تین دن کا روزہ پورا سال روزہ رکھنے کے برابر ہے اور باقی دنوں کا افطار۔"
Muawiya bin Qura al-Muzani apne walid se riwayat karte hain ki Nabi sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne apne sar par masah kiya aur farmaya, "Har mahine teen din ka roza poora saal roza rakhne ke barabar hai aur baqi dinon ka iftar."
Aishah said: I said to Aishah, "Did the Prophet ﷺ used to fast three days of every month?" She replied, "Yes." I asked, "Which days?" She said, "He did not mind which days he fasted."
عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ میں نے عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا سے پوچھا کہ کیا نبی کریم ﷺ ہر مہینے میں تین دن روزہ رکھا کرتے تھے؟ انہوں نے جواب دیا کہ ہاں۔ میں نے پوچھا کہ کون سے دن؟ انہوں نے جواب دیا کہ انہیں اس بات کی پرواہ نہیں تھی کہ وہ کون سے دن روزہ رکھتے ہیں۔
Ayesha raza Allah tala anha kehti hain ke maine Ayesha raza Allah tala anha se poocha ke kia Nabi kareem sallallahu alaihi wasallam har mahinay mein teen din roza rakha karte thay? Unhon ne jawab diya ke haan. Maine poocha ke kon se din? Unhon ne jawab diya ke unhen is baat ki parwah nahi thi ke woh kon se din roza rakhte hain.
Abu Dharr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded us to fast three days of every month, and the month of Ramadan, and five days.
حضرت ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں ہر مہینہ تین دن روزے رکھنے کا حکم دیا اور ماہ رمضان کے اور پانچ دن کے ۔

Abu Dharr reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ordered us to fast three days of every month, the 13th, 14th and 15th.
حضرت ابوذر رضی اللہ عنہ سے روایت ہے کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے ہمیں ہر مہینے میں تین دن، تیرہویں، چودھویں اور پندرہویں کو روزہ رکھنے کا حکم دیا۔
Hazrat Abuzar Radi Allahu Anhu se riwayat hai ki Rasul Allah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ne humein har maheene mein teen din, terahween, chaudhween aur pandhraween ko roza rakhne ka hukum diya.
Aisha said: "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to fast three days every month." I said: "From which (days)?" She said: "He did not mind from which it was."
حضرت عائشہ رضی اللہ عنہا کہتی ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم ہر مہینے تین دن روزے رکھتے تھے۔ میں نے عرض کیا: کون سے (دنوں میں)؟ فرمایا: آپ کو پرواہ نہیں تھی کہ وہ کون سے دن ہیں۔
Hazrat Aisha radi Allahu anha kehti hain ke Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam har mahine teen din roze rakhte thay. Maine arz kiya: Kaun se (dinon mein)? Farmaya: Aap ko parwah nahin thi ke woh kaun se din hain.
Abdullah bin Amr reported: I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and I asked him about fasting. He said, “Fast one day of every month and you will have the reward of fasting the rest of the month.” I said, “I am able to fast more than that.” He said, “Then fast two days of every month and you will have the reward of fasting the rest of the month.” I said, “I am able to fast more than that.” He said, “Then fast three days of every month and you will have the reward of fasting the rest of the month.” I said, “I am able to fast more than that.” He said, “The most beloved fasting to Allah is the fasting of David, and he would fast every other day.”
عبداللہ بن عمرو رضی اللہ عنہما کہتے ہیں کہ میں رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کی خدمت میں حاضر ہوا اور آپ سے روزوں (کے مسائل) کے بارے میں دریافت کیا تو آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ’’(اگر تم سے بن پڑے تو) ہر مہینے میں ایک دن کا روزہ رکھو، تمہارے لیے یہ پورے مہینے کے روزوں کا ثواب ہوگا‘‘۔ میں نے عرض کیا کہ میں اس سے زیادہ روزے رکھنے کی طاقت رکھتا ہوں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ’’تو ہر مہینے میں دو دن کے روزے رکھو، تمہارے لیے یہ پورے مہینے کے روزوں کا ثواب ہوگا‘‘۔ میں نے عرض کیا کہ میں اس سے زیادہ روزے رکھنے کی طاقت رکھتا ہوں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ’’تو ہر مہینے میں تین دن کے روزے رکھو، تمہارے لیے یہ پورے مہینے کے روزوں کا ثواب ہوگا‘‘۔ میں نے عرض کیا کہ میں اس سے زیادہ روزے رکھنے کی طاقت رکھتا ہوں۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ’’اللہ تعالیٰ کو سب سے زیادہ محبوب روزہ داؤد علیہ السلام کا روزہ ہے کہ آپ ایک دن روزہ رکھتے اور ایک دن چھوڑ دیتے تھے‘‘۔
Abdullah bin Amro raziallaho anhoma kehte hain keh mein Rasool Allah sallallaho alaihe wasallam ki khidmat mein hazir huwa aur aap se rozon (ke masail) ke bare mein daryaft kya to aap sallallaho alaihe wasallam ne farmaya: "(Agar tum se ban pade to) har mahine mein ek din ka roza rakho, tumhare liye yeh poore mahine ke rozon ka sawab hoga". Maine arz kya keh mein is se ziada roze rakhne ki taqat rakhta hun. Aap sallallaho alaihe wasallam ne farmaya: "To har mahine mein do din ke roze rakho, tumhare liye yeh poore mahine ke rozon ka sawab hoga". Maine arz kya keh mein is se ziada roze rakhne ki taqat rakhta hun. Aap sallallaho alaihe wasallam ne farmaya: "To har mahine mein teen din ke roze rakho, tumhare liye yeh poore mahine ke rozon ka sawab hoga". Maine arz kya keh mein is se ziada roze rakhne ki taqat rakhta hun. Aap sallallaho alaihe wasallam ne farmaya: "Allah Taala ko sab se ziada mahboob roza Dawood alaihissalam ka roza hai keh aap ek din roza rakhte aur ek din chhor dete the".
Abu Hurairah said: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Whoever fasts three days from every month, he has fasted the whole month." Abu Hurairah said: And I used to fast three days from every month, and I am fasting the whole month. And I found the confirmation of that in the Book of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime: {Whoever comes with a good deed will have ten like it}.
ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ نبی کریم صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا: ”جو شخص ہر مہینے میں تین دن روزے رکھے گا تو گویا اس نے پورے مہینے کے روزے رکھے“ ۔ ابو ہریرہ رضی اللہ عنہ کہتے ہیں کہ میں ہر مہینے میں تین روزے رکھا کرتا تھا تو گویا میں پورے مہینے کے روزے رکھتا تھا اور میں نے اس کی تصدیق اللہ عزوجل کی کتاب میں پائی ”جو کوئی نیکی کرے گا اسے اس کا دس گنا ملے گا“ ۔
Abu Hurairah razi Allah anhu kehte hain ke Nabi Kareem sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya: "Jo shakhs har mahine mein teen din rozy rakhe ga to goya usne pure mahine ke rozy rakhe". Abu Hurairah razi Allah anhu kehte hain ke mein har mahine mein teen rozy rakha karta tha to goya mein pure mahine ke rozy rakhta tha aur maine iski tasdeeq Allah Azzawajal ki kitab mein pai "Jo koi neki kare ga use uska das guna mile ga".
Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-Aas narrated that: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was informed that I had said, "By Allah, I will fast during the day and pray Qiyam at night, as long as I live." I said, "O Allah's Messenger (ﷺ)! I did say that." He (ﷺ) said, "You are not able to do that. So fast (some days) and break the fast (on other days), stand for prayer at night (for some time) and sleep (for some time). Observe three days of fast in a month, for that is equal to fasting throughout the year."
عبداللہ بن عمرو بن العاص رضی اللہ عنہما بیان کرتے ہیں کہ رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کو بتلایا گیا کہ میں نے کہا ہے کہ اللہ کی قسم! میں دن کو روزہ رکھوں گا اور رات کو قیام کروں گا جب تک زندہ رہوں گا۔ میں نے کہا جی ہاں اللہ کے رسول! میں نے ایسا ہی کہا تھا۔ آپ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے فرمایا تم ایسا کرنے پر قادر نہیں ہو۔ لہٰذا (کچھ دن) روزہ رکھو اور (کچھ دن) افطار کرو، (کچھ دیر) رات کو نماز پڑھو اور (کچھ دیر) سو جاؤ۔ مہینے میں تین دن کا روزہ رکھو کیونکہ وہ پورے سال کے روزوں کے برابر ہے۔
Abdullah bin Amr bin al-Aas radi Allahu anhuma bayan karte hain ki Rasul Allah sallallahu alaihi wasallam ko batlaya gaya ki maine kaha hai ki Allah ki qasam! main din ko roza rakhunga aur raat ko qiyam karunga jab tak zinda rahunga. Maine kaha ji haan Allah ke Rasul! maine aisa hi kaha tha. Aap sallallahu alaihi wasallam ne farmaya tum aisa karne par qadi nahi ho. Lihaza (kuchh din) roza rakho aur (kuchh din) iftar karo, (kuchh der) raat ko namaz padho aur (kuchh der) so jao. Mahine mein teen din ka roza rakho kyunki woh pure saal ke rozon ke barabar hai.
