Abu Saeed Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that I asked, "O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), will we be able to see our Lord on the Day of Judgment?" He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Are you able to look at the sun at noon when there are no clouds?" We said, "No, O Messenger of Allah." He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "Can you see the moon on the fourteenth night without clouds?" The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) said, "No." He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, "On the Day of Judgment, when you will see Allah, you will not feel as much difficulty as you feel in seeing either of these. When the Day of Judgment comes, a caller will announce: 'Beware! Every nation will join its deities.' So, whoever worshipped an idol or an image will join them, and they will all fall into Hell. And those who used to worship only Allah, the One, without any partner, will remain, among them will be the righteous and the sinners, and the rest of the People of the Book. Then Hell will be brought forth, it will be like a mirage, some parts of it burning others. Then the Jews will be called, and the angel will ask them: 'Whom did you worship?' They will say, 'Uzair, the son of Allah.' The angel will say, 'You are lying. Allah has no wife or offspring. What do you mean?' They will say, 'O our Lord, we are thirsty, give us water.' It will be said to them, 'Why don't you go back?' They will turn back and fall into Hell. Then the Christians will be summoned, and Allah will ask them: 'Whom did you worship?' They will say, 'The Messiah, son of Allah.' Allah will say, 'You are lying. Allah has no wife or offspring. What do you want?' They will say, 'O our Lord, we are thirsty, grant us water.' Allah will say, 'Why don't you go back?' They will turn back and fall into Hell. Then only those who used to worship Allah alone will remain, among them the righteous and the sinners. Then Allah will appear before us in a form different from the first, and He will say: 'O people, every nation has joined the deities they used to worship, now you are left.' On that day, no one will be able to speak to Allah except the Prophets. They will say, 'People stayed away from us in the world, while we were in need of their company. Today, all nations have joined the deities they used to worship, and we are waiting for the One whom we used to worship.' Allah will say, 'I am your Lord.' The Muslims will say, 'We seek refuge in You from Allah.' Allah will say, 'Do you have any sign by which you recognize Allah?' They will say, 'Yes, the Shin (lower leg).' Allah, in accordance with His Majesty, will reveal His Shin, and all the people will prostrate, and whoever prostrated in the world out of hypocrisy, show, or ostentation, an iron rod will be inserted in his back, and when he tries to prostrate, he will fall flat on his face. Then both the righteous and the wicked will raise their heads, and once again, Allah will appear in a form different from before, and He will say: 'I am your Lord.' All the people will say: 'Yes, You are indeed our Lord.' This will be repeated thrice. Then, a bridge will be laid over Hell. We asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, may our parents be sacrificed for you, what is the bridge?' He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'It is a bridge that is slippery, with sharp hooks of iron (in which a person can get caught), and thorny plants of Najd, known as "Sa'dan". The believers will pass over it like a flash of lightning, some in the blink of an eye, some like the wind, some like birds, some like swift horses, some like ordinary riders. Many will attain salvation, some will be saved safely, some will be wounded but will be saved, and some will fall into Hell. By the One in whose grip my soul is, when you see your right, you do not strive as hard to obtain it as the believers will strive for their brothers on that Day. When they see them saved from Hell, they will say, 'O our Lord, these people used to pray with us, fast with us, perform Hajj with us, and strive with us. They are in the grip of fire.' Allah, the Blessed and Exalted, will say, 'Go and bring out from Hell those whom you recognize.' The fire will be forbidden from their faces (so their faces will be protected from burning). They will see a man whose feet have been reached by the fire, some whose shins have been burnt, some whose knees have been burnt, and some whose waists have been burnt. They will bring out one of them. Then they will return and speak to Allah (they will be granted permission, they will bring out another man). They will continue to do this until Allah says, 'Go and bring out from Hell everyone in whose heart there is even an atom's weight of faith.' They will bring out such people as well." Abu Saeed, when he narrated this Hadith, used to say: "If you do not believe, then read this verse: {Indeed, Allah does not do injustice, [even] to the weight of an atom, and if there is a good deed, He multiplies it and gives from Himself a great reward.} [An-Nisa: 40] (Translation: Kanzul Iman, Imam Ahmad Raza Khan, may Allah have mercy on him)." They will say, 'O our Lord, we have not left any believer in it.' Allah will say, 'None remains except the Most Merciful. The angels have interceded, the Prophets have interceded, now none remains except the One who is more merciful than every merciful one.' Then Allah will take out a handful from Hell, they will be burnt like coal, they would not have done any good deeds, they will be dipped in the River of Life, their bodies will heal in it, by the One in whose grip my soul is, just as a grain of wheat grows in the moisture of a flood, do you not see it and its yellow shade? And the green light with it. We said, 'O Messenger of Allah, perhaps you were among the people of livestock.' He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said, 'They will grow in the same way, then they will become like pearls, seals will be put around their necks, and then they will be sent to Paradise. The people of Paradise will see them and say, 'These are the people of Hell, they did not do any good deeds nor did they do anything for the Hereafter, they have been taken out of Hell without any deeds.' Allah will say to them, 'Take whatever you desire from here, whatever you take will be yours.' They will take a lot and then stop and say, 'What we have taken, Allah has not given us that.' Allah will say, 'I have given you something better than what you have chosen.' They will say, 'O Allah, what is better than what we have chosen?' Allah will say, 'My pleasure without displeasure.'" **This Hadith has a Sahih chain of narrators, but Imam Bukhari (may Allah have mercy on him) and Imam Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) did not narrate it with this chain. However, the two Sheikhs narrated it in brief through Zuhri from Saeed bin Musayyab and 'Ata' bin Yazid al-Laythi, who narrated it from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him). And Imam Muslim narrated the Hadith of 'Abdur-Razzaq, who narrated it from Ma'mar, from Zaid bin Aslam, from 'Ata' bin Yasar, from Abu Sa'eed. It is less than half of this context.**
Hazrat Abu Saeed Khudri (رضي الله تعالى عنه) bayan karte hain ke maine arz ki: Ya Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) kya qayamat ke din hum apne rab ko dekh saken ge? Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: kya tum chaudhvin raat ke chand ko badalon ke baghair dekh sakte ho? Sahaba kiram (رضي الله تعالى عنه) ne kaha: nahin. Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: qayamat ke din jab tum Allah Ta'ala ka didar karoge to itni takleef bhi mehsoos nahin karoge jitna tum in mein se kisi ek ko dekhte waqt mehsoos karte ho, jab qayamat ka din hoga to ek nida dene wala kahega: Khabar dar! Har ummat apne maboodon ke sath mil jaye, chunancha jo kisi but ya surat ko poojta hoga, sab un se ja milen ge, aur ye sab dozakh mein ja girenge, aur wo log baqi bachenge jo sirf Allah Wahid La Shareek ki ibadat kya karte the, in mein nek bhi honge, gunahgar bhi honge aur baqi manda ahl e kitab bhi honge, phir dozakh ko laya jayega, ye sarab ki manind hogi, iska baz hissa apni baz ko jala raha hoga, phir yahudion ko bulaya jayega, farishta in se puchega: tum kiski ibadat karte the? Wo kahenge: Allah ke bete Uzair ki. Farishta kahega: tum jhoot bol rahe ho, Allah Ta'ala ki na koi biwi hai aur na iski aulad hai, tumhari murad kya hai? Wo kahenge: aye hamare rab, humein pyaas lagi hai, humein pani pila, in ko kaha jayega: tum laut kyon nahin jate?, wo laut jayenge, aur dozakh mein ja girenge, phir isaiyon ko bulaya jayega, Allah Ta'ala in se puchega: tum kiski ibadat karte the? Wo kahenge: Allah ke bete Masih ki. Allah Ta'ala farmayega: tum jhoot bol rahe ho, Allah Ta'ala ki na biwi hai aur na aulad. Tum kya chahte ho? Wo kahenge: aye hamare rab humein pyaas lagi hai, humein pani ata farma, Allah Ta'ala farmayega: tum laut kyon nahin jate, wo chale jayenge aur dozakh mein gir jayenge. Iske bad sirf wohi log baqi bachenge jo sirf Allah Ta'ala ki ibadat karte honge, in mein nek bhi honge aur gunahgar bhi. Phir Allah Ta'ala hamare samne aisi surat mein zahir hoga jo pahli surat se mukhtalif hogi, phir Allah Ta'ala farmayega: aye logo har ummat un maboodon se ja mili jin ki wo ibadat karte the, ab tum baqi bache ho, is din Allah Ta'ala se nabiyon ke siwa koi hum kalam nahin ho sakega, wo arz karenge: duniya mein log hum se juda rahe, jab ke hum in ki sohbat ke zarurat mand the, aaj sab ummaten un maboodon se ja mili hain jin ki wo ibadat karte the, aur hum apne us mabood ka intezar kar rahe hain jiski hum ibadat karte the, Allah Ta'ala farmayega: main tumhara rab hun, musalman kahenge: hum tujh se Allah ki panaah mangte hain, Allah Ta'ala farmayega: kya tumhare pass Allah Ta'ala ko pahchanne ki koi nishani hai? Wo kahenge: haan, pindli. Allah Ta'ala apni shan ke mutabiq apni pindli zahir farmayega, to sab log sijda riz ho jayenge aur jisne duniya mein munafiqat ke taur par, ya dikhawe aur riyakari ke taur par sijda kiya hoga, iski pusht mein lohe ka ek saraya dal diya jayega jiski wajah se wo jab sijda karne lagega to gaddi ke bal gir jayega, phir nek o bad sab sar uthayenge, ab ki bar phir Allah Ta'ala pahli se alag surat mein zahir hoga, wo farmayega: main tumhara rab hun, sab log kahenge: ji haan to hamara rab hai, ye baat teen martaba dohraayenge, phir jahannam ke upar jasar bichhaya jayega, hum ne pucha: Ya Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم), hamare maan baap aap par qurban ho jayen jasar kya hota hai? Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: ek pul hai jis par phisalna hai, is par lohe ke tez kande hain (jis mein insan phans sakta hai), aur najd ke kante dar paude honge, in ko 'Sa'daan' kaha jata hai. Is par se momin bijli ki chamak ki tarah guzar jayenge, kuchh palak jhapakne mein, kuchh hawa ki manind, kuchh parinde ki tarah, kuchh tez raftar ghore ki tarah, kuchh aam sawariyon ki tarah guzarenge, kai log nijaat payenge, kuchh log salamati ke sath nijaat pa jayenge, kuchh log zakhmi honge lekin nijaat pa jayenge aur kuchh log dozakh mein gir jayenge. Is zaat ki qasam jis ke qabza qudrat mein meri jaan hai, tum jab apna haq dekh lo to iske wusool karne mein itni sakhti nahin karte ho jitne sakht is din momin apne bhaiyon ke bare mein honge, jab ye in ko dekhenge ke wo log dozakh se nijaat pa chuke hain, ye log kahenge: aye hamare rab ye log hamare sath namazen parha karte the, hamare sath roze rakhte the, hamare sath hajj kiya karte the, hamare sath jihad kiya karte the, ye aag ki lapet mein hain, Allah Tabaarak Wa Ta'ala farmayega: tum jao, aur jis jis ko pahchante ho, in ko dozakh se nikal lo, inke chehron par aag haram kar di gayi hogi (is liye inke chehre jalne se bache honge) ye ek aadmi ko dekhenge ke iske qadmon tak aag pahunch chuki hai, kisi ki pindli tak jala chuki hogi, aur kisi ko ghutnon tak jala chuki hogi, baz ki kamar tak hogi, ye in mein se ek aadmi ko nikal layenge, phir dobara laut kar aayenge, aur Allah Ta'ala se guftgu karenge, (in ko ijazat milegi, ye ek aadmi ko phir nikal layenge,) musalsal yahi amal dohraate rahenge, hatta ke Allah Ta'ala farmayega: tum jao aur jiske dil mein ek zare ke barabar bhi imaan maujood hai, isko bhi dozakh se nikal lao, ye log aise logon ko bhi nikal kar le aayenge.
Hazrat Abu Saeed jab ye hadees bayan karte the to farmaya karte the: agar tumhein yaqeen nahin aata, to ye aayat padh len
{Innal laha la yazlimu misqala zarratinw in taku hasanatany yuda'ifha wa yu'ti min ladunhu ajran azeema} [Al-Nisa: 40]
''Allah Ta'ala ek zarra bhar zulm nahin farmata aur agar koi neki ho to use dooni karta aur apne pass se bada sawab deta hai'' (tarjuma kanz ul imaan, Imam Ahmad Raza Rahmatullah Alaih)
Wo kahenge: aye hamare rab hum ne is mein koi momin nahin chhora, Allah Ta'ala farmayega: Arhamur Rahimeen ke siwa koi baqi nahin bacha, farishte shafa'at kar chuke, anbiya kiram shafa'at kar chuke, ab is zaat ke siwa koi nahin bacha jo zaat har raham karne wale se badi raham karne wali hai. Phir Allah Ta'ala ek muthi bhar kar dozakh se nikalega, ye log jal kar koyla ho chuke honge, inhon ne kabhi koi nek amal kiya hi nahin hoga, in ko nahar hayat mein ghota diya jayega, is mein inke jism dobara theek ho jayenge, is zaat ki qasam jis ke qabza qudrat mein meri jaan hai, jaise dana gandum seelab ki tari mein ugta hai, kya tum isko aur iske zard saye ko nahin dekhte ho? Aur iske sath sabz roshni ko, hum ne kaha: Ya Rasool Allah (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) shayad ke aap ahl e mawaishi mein honge, Aap (صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم) ne farmaya: wo isi tarah ugenge, phir wo motiyon ki manind ho jayenge, in ki gardanon mein muhrein lagai jayengi phir in ko jannat ki jaanib bhej diya jayega, jannati log in ko (dekh kar) kahenge: ye jahannami hain, inhon ne na koi nek amal kiya aur na aakhirat ke liye koi kaam kiya, in ko bila amal dozakh se nikal liya gaya hai, Allah Ta'ala in se farmayega: yahan se jo dil chahta hai le lo, tum jo bhi le loge, wo tumhara ho jayega, wo bahut kuchh lenge aur phir ruk jayenge aur kahenge: hum ne jo kuchh liya hai. Allah Ta'ala ne humein wo ata nahin kiya, Allah Ta'ala farmayega: maine tumhari muntakhib kardah cheezon se behtar cheezen ata ki hain, wo kahenge, ya Allah jo kuchh hum ne pasand kiya hai, isse behtar kaun si cheez hai? Allah Ta'ala farmayega: meri khushnudi narazgi ke baghair.
** ye hadees sahih ul asnad hai lekin Imam Bukhari Rahmatullah Alaih aur Imam Muslim Rahmatullah Alaih ne isko is asnad ke hamrah naqal nahin kiya. Wo is siyaq ke nisf se bhi kam hai.
